THE DLCA SUMMER HIGH PERFORMANCE PROGRAM IS UP AND RUNNING

The DLCA High Performance Program has begun for the 2017-18 season. The program in it's 12 year, has players from around the world train and play through the Australian cricket season.

This years group has players from England, Sri Lanka, Ireland, Pakistan, India, Canada, Barbados, Scotland, and Australia. The players train from Monday to Friday at the Academy, and play for an allocated club on weekends. The weekly program includes strength and conditioning, individual skill development, fielding, net sessions that have a different focus, (technical and mental development, competitive sessions, and player driven sessions, to develop and prepare their games).

The entire course is underpinned by an Athlete Development Program. This is for player to reflect and look inside their games, to find continued improvement, and understand their strengths and weaknesses.

The hugely successful program has seen 20 players progress to International Cricket, and over 100 to First Class Cricket. Three past scholars are on the current England Ashes Squad, that is about to play a Test Series against Australia, England Captain Joe Root, quick Jake Ball, and reserve keeper Ben Foakes.

The England Lions are about to train and play in Australia, and four players in that squad will return to Australia having trained at the Academy. Liam Livingstone, Jamie Porter, Dominic Bess, and Alex Davies.

Any players looking to improve their games are welcome to contact the DLCA for a few spots left for the post Christmas period.

WEST INDIES U/19 PLAYER CHEMAR HOLDER BLOGS FROM AUSTRALIA

"It's a great experience to be here in Australia, further more to be apart of the Darren Lehmann Cricket Academy (DLCA).

So far it has been a good journey here in Adelaide, it's not like Melbourne or Sydney it's a more quiet place but lovely. Here at the DLCA I have learnt a lot in 4 weeks so far, not only about my game but my mental and physical well being.

I would say this opportunity has helped me to understand myself more and made me think a lot about life and becoming a man for the future, it also helps you to make decisions and be confident with the decision that you make. So far being here I have improved my understanding of the game, fitness and interacting with people from all over the world.

I would encourage any young cricketer who is looking to improve there game to come to the DLCA".

Chemar plays for the Port Adelaide District CC on weekends as part of his time at the DLCA. Playing in their A Grade on the weekend, he was instrumental in guiding his team home against Kensington. Needing 32 to win when he strode to the crease, the young quick made 18no to see his new club win. Port Adelaide is the club England players Jason Roy, Scott Borthwick and Sam Billings played for, while at the DLCA.

DLCA CAMP IN UK AT KINGS COLLEGE TAUNTON

The Darren Lehmann Cricket Academy will hold a 3 Day High Performance Camp at Kings College Taunton, December 16th-18th 2017.

Kings College has a strong cricket tradition, and an ideal place to host the first UK based DLCA Camp.

The camp will bring DLCA training methods, structures and program, that has seen it successfully develop players from around the world over the last 12 years, in Adelaide, Australia.

Key DLCA philosophies will underpin the camp, which have proved successful in the development of players in Australia, with the likes of International players Joe Root, Alex Hales, Liam Plunkett and Jason Roy, plus many more.

Key Philosophies Are:
  • Get comfortable being uncomfortable
  • Find a way
  • Be on the edge
The program will include:
  • skill development in both a closed environment and open
  • competition
  • fielding
  • conditioning
  • functional development
  • recovery
  • athlete management program
The DLCA take a holistic approach to player development, as game performance requires many different areas to connect together to make long term improvement.

The Darren Lehmann Cricket Academy Coaching Director, and Australian Mens Head Coach Darren Lehmann believes  “it's not just about improving your cricket –it’s about participation and competition, individuals and teams, working hard and celebrating success, constant improvement on and off the park.  To become the best you can be in cricket and life is a challenging journey.  It should be fun, testing and diverse.  Our program places equal importance in all of these elements - our students leave better players, people and teammates”

DLCA India 2017
TOUR INDIA WITH THE DLCA IN 2018

Playing cricket is the most important part of developing your game. Playing Internationally challenges your game in a completely different way, which brings a range of different questions, technically, mentally, and tactically.

Using DLCA High Performance Coaches who have combined 40+ years experience in High Performance Cricket, and a High Performance structure, players learn how Elite players play the game.

India is very different, and a wonderful life experience, to develop young men which is very much part of what the DLCA is about.

REWIND ON SURREY PLAYER RORY BURNS BLOG FROM THE DLCA
Sitting in departures at the airport I'm reflecting on not only the past two months, but my whole time in Adelaide.

As it stands, I leave Tea Tree Gully at the summit of the 2 day league, in the final of the one day competition and having won the t20 competition. I have to say it has been outstanding for me to play in such a good side and with a great bunch of blokes, whom I will keep in touch with, and I'd like to thank the club as a whole for how I was looked after. I could not have asked for more.

On the academy side of things I'm leaving having had my most intense winter yet, there's no respite and on occasion it's hard to see what you are working towards.
However, I know that I'm leaving the academy an all round better cricketer.
Because of the academy I've been lucky enough to play in both Adelaide and Melbourne, which has allowed me to experience a variety of conditions. Which was a great challenge and one that can only help my development.

Other than this, I'd just like to say a quick thank you to Seigs, Mark Sorrell, Tea Tree Gully, and in particular the academy lads. It's safe to say we've been a very tight group and I look forward to seeing the boys turn in some good performances this year for their counties, as long as it's not against the Rey!

That's all for now.....
