Last weekend the Minnesota Historical Society and Split Rock Lighthouse State Park held an event to celebrate the anniversary of the beacon lighting. It included lighting the trail from the park trail center to the island with lanterns. There were interpretive stops along the way where everyone could meet an interpreter and get information about several topics.
The light was on from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm. It was a beautiful evening and many families went away with great memories of an evening at Split Rock. Hopefully this will be an annual event.
