Happening in the Watershed

Monthly Meeting this Wednesday Sept. 7 at 7 pm
We hope to see you at our Sept. monthly meeting. As always, there is a LOT going on. We just applied for a major grant, our floating islands are nearly 1 year old, and Coastal Clean up day is mid-Sept. Please come and add to our wonderful watershed work.

Santa Venetia Hike
Thank you John Denigris for leading another informative and outstanding hike on Aug. 7, including history, natural and human. Twelve participants hiked from the Civic Center to the Levee at the end of Vendola and back, exploring hidden walkways and secret parks. We also picked up trash! Thanks to Alice, Sita, Emily, Chris, Debra, Jeff and our own Supervisor Damon Connolly for joining us.

6th Annual Bike Ride a Success
GWC held our 6th Annual Bike the Watershed on Aug. 19. The weather was perfect and the route a nice mix of hills and flat. We toured the LGVSD ponds, showed off back roads trails, and gave watershed history talks along the way. Thanks to Helaine, Golda, Ed and Damon for joining our fun ride. Special thanks to John D. who brought the picnic spread!

Santa Venetia Labor Day Picnic
GWC tabled at the Monday SVNA picnic, showing off the watershed model--a big fave with kids because who doesn't like squirt guns on a hot day? The band and food as always were excellent! Thank you SVNA for a great day and for giving us the space to present our watershed information.

See You in the Watershed!
