Please join us for our August assembly! Our speaker is Zach Ward, prolific improv comedian, motivational speaker, and founder/owner of DSI Comedy. He'll be speaking about how improvisation can help us live better. He spoke in October of last year, and his talk was engaging, funny, and thought-provoking. We expect no less of him this time, although it will be a different talk since it was entirely improvised! And of course, we'll be sharing in songs, laughter, and fellowship. Please RSVP on Meetup!

School Supply Drive

For our August assembly, we'll be collecting school supplies for Crayons2Calculators, a Durham-based program that helps provide Durham public schools with school supplies. Sixty-two percent of students in Durham Public Schools are at or near the poverty line, which means they often don't have access to basic school supplies. Due to recent budget cuts in North Carolina public schools, this often means teachers are supplementing these students' supplies out of their own pockets. Crayons2Calculators reduces that burden by providing teachers from the highest-poverty schools with school supplies to distribute to their students.

Upcoming Events

Sunday, August 28th - All-Ages Board Games from 1-3pm at the Chapel Hill public library. There will be kids of all ages, and games for adults as well!
Coming in September - our quarterly open board meeting. Come see how the sausage gets made, and give us your suggestions or feedback!

Food Bank Volunteering

On Saturday July 23rd, we had our first family-friendly volunteer day at the Food Bank in Durham. We had fifteen volunteers, who, along with other volunteer groups, sorted out 5,500 pounds of usable produce for families in need. Some of the zucchini were pretty impressive!
