ACCLA MEETING AT THE ANA WORLD'S FAIR OF MONEY
Anaheim, California

 
NOTE: THIS IS A SATURDAY!
The next meeting of the Ancient Coin Club of Los Angeles will be held in conjunction with the ANA World's Fair of Money on Saturday, August 13, from 1:00 to 3:30PM in the Huntington A room which is on the 4th floor of the Hilton Anaheim Hotel. The program will be a show and tell so please bring coins from your collection to show to attendees. Attendance at the ANA show is free on Saturday. 

On Thursday, Randy Butler will be presenting his program The Joy of Collecting Ancient Coins immediately following Adventures in Edutainment's performance of Coin Masters of Syracuse (featuring David Michaels). Both events will take place in the Avalon AB room of the Hilton Anaheim Hotel at 11:00AM on Thursday, August 11.

The ANA World's Fair of Money runs from August 9-13, 2016. Other presentations at the Fair that may be of interest to ACCLA members include a presentation by Oliver Hoover on Wednesday morning entitled The Long Shadow of Cleopatra: Numismatic Portraits of Ptolemaic Queens. LAST MEETING


The July 10, 2016 meeting was brought to order at 1:33 PM. Treasurer Barry Rightman gave his treasurer's report. Mike Connor gave an update on the ACCLA website and reported that ACCLA's facebook page now has 1,143 followers. Denea Buckingham proposed a motion that ACCLA pay $20 for a promotional ad on facebook that was seconded and carried. Roger Burry reviewed the meeting programs for the next few months. The September 11 meeting will feature a Coin Photography Seminar. [Please note that because of scheduling issue, the September meeting will begin at 1:30 PM.]

Walt Ostromecki from the ANA was present and gave an update on the ANA's 150th anniversary event. Merrill Gibson reviewed the proposed programs for the ACCLA meeting at the ANA on Saturday, August 13 and announced that Randy Butler will be speaking on Thursday, August 11 immediately following David Michaels and Adventures in Edutainment's performance of Coin Masters of Syracuse. The ACCLA brochure is being printed and should be available for handing out at Randy's talk.

The July 10, 2016 meeting featured a well illustrated, erudite presentation by Dean Ruby and Roger Burry on Summer Games - the Ancient Olympic Games in Coins.
