Making the most of your
Networking
Become a more effective networker:
Back in April, Women's Network of Rapid City sponsored a two-part seminar on networking with a fabulous presentation by Leah Braun. A couple of tidbits included strategies for "working the room" at Networking events (i.e. joining "open" groups, standing near the door, or planning to go to all four corners of the room), as well as how to master your 30-second pitch.

In case you missed it, you may now download the slides from these presentations at the following links: Make sure your profile is current:
Log into the website at www.rcwomensnetwork.org to check your profile. In most cases your username is first name + last initial (i.e. nikkolea for Nikkole Abbas) and the e-mail address where you get your meeting reminders and newsletters. You may use this information to reset your password. If this doesn't work for you or you have any questions about managing your online profile, contact Nikkole at (605) 716-7802 or sevengens@gmail.com.

While many of us love the online directory and ability to have the latest up-to-date information about members, some of us miss having the convenience of a printed directory of member services. Now we will have the best of both worlds! A condensed, printer-friendly directory will be available for download on the website where it can be updated more often than a printed booklet. We have a draft of this directory available for your review. Please download the draft directory and check your listing for accuracy. If you notice any changes to be made, please contact Kristal at Kristal@ktllp.com by Friday, August 19.

Take advantage of additional opportunities:
  • The Fishbowl: Drop a business card into the fishbowl as you enter the Women's Network luncheon and grab one on your way out. In between meetings you should have two one-on-one networking opportunities (one with the person who takes your card and one with the person whose card you take).
  • Chamber Mixers: WNRC members will have the opportunity to attend mixers to help promote our Network among Chamber members, as well as network for their own businesses. For more information, contact a Board member.
  • Door Prize Contributions: Donate your promotional items or other prizes to be added to gift baskets the Women's Network of RC will be providing to other professional events and conferences. Bring the items to any luncheon meeting or contact a Board member for more information.
