Country Life on Not The Booker longlist

My novel Country Life, published by Unthank Books, has found its way onto the (very) long list for Not The Booker Prize, organised by The Guardian.

The contest is open each year to books that qualify for the Man Booker Prize, but have not actually been longlisted for that award.

Here's the link you need.

The way it works: anyone can vote for books to be promoted to the shortlist. You have to vote for two books from two different publishers, and write a short response to at least one of the books. You vote by responding in the "comments" section at the bottom of the blog post. You have to create an account if you're not already registered with The Guardian's blog. Oh, and you have until 14 August.

I have to say that this contest is clearly easily riggable by those with excellent networking skills, so I'm not holding my breath, nor taking it that seriously. But if you do want to vote, I recommend pairing mine with Lou Rowan's manic A Mystery's No Problem from Equus Press. Or you could also vote for Louis Armand's The Combinations from the same press (which I haven't read yet – it's on order –  but is doing very well).

So if you fancy voting, I'd be grateful. But more important: if you've read my book and enjoyed it, or have any comments on it, please do get back to me. I'd love to know. Or if you haven't got round to it yet, you are welcome to order it from Unthank Books or your favourite online or offline bookstore.

Very best wishes,

Ken Edwards
