4-H Resume Learning Day, August 16th
The Banks Barn Busters 4-H Club are hosting a 4-H Resume Learning Day on August 16th at 7:15. The 4-H Resume (formerly known as the 4-H Record Book) is a place to keep track of many types of activities, 4-H and non 4-H. This is a great opportunity for youth who have never done the 4-H resume before but want to!

Please RSVP to James Terpening if you or your club are interested in attending. The training will be held in Banks, the address will be provided upon RSVPing.

Volunteer at State Fair
State could use help clerking and setting up the Static Exhibits at the State Fair.  Please see the message below for dates and times and contact Annabelle Morgan (chipmunkam@comcast.net ) if you can help in anyway. This is a fun community service as you get to meet other kids from around the state.

  • August 18 and 19:  We will be at the fairgrounds from approximately 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. If you would like to come in during any of that time to help set up your area, please do so. If you are not there, we will set up your area for check in as it was last year unless you tell us to do something different.
  • Monday, August 22:  Check in day.  Please arrive no later than 9:00 am. It is critical that your area be ready to receive exhibits when they begin to arrive. Come to the front desk to receive your check in lists and instructions. Counties can bring exhibits in until 5:00 pm
  • Tuesday, August 23:  Judging Day. You should plan on arriving by 8:00 am.  There will be an orientation for clerks at 8:30 and an orientation for judges at 9:00. Judging will start after the orientations and go until your area is done. Lunch will be provided for chairs, judges, and clerks.
When your judging is completed, you may start setting up your displays.
  • Wednesday, August 24: Set up day. All exhibits are arranged for display. The building will be open from 8:00 am until approximately 6:00 pm.
  • Thursday, August 25: more set up time if needed.
  • Monday, September 5, 7:00 pm: taking down all the exhibits. This is not mandatory, but if you are able to help this evening, it is much appreciated!

The Laurel Community Church is holding a community event on August 20th from 9 AM to 1 PM and has invited 4-Hers to host a table to show off the opportunities available to young people through 4-H. This event would be great for youth with small animals, such as poultry or rabbits but other ideas are encouraged. Please contact Diana Richfield if you are interested in volunteering!
