Links from Making Comics!

Hi all, i've meant to send these out once or twice per semester, but haven't really been keeping up with it. Thought i'd get some out now.

These are links and notes I send out during the course, some may be familiar but I'm going to try to stick to more current links so those of you who attended the course say, last fall, should find some new things here. Hope you enjoy and find them useful! The links in many cases will take you to the Facebook page I maintain for the course initially but some are more direct.

This is a good set of notes on character design emphasizing different aspects a bit but very compatible. Note that they start by writing down the characters characteristics?

Here’s just some great simple sketching reference/tip sheets for slightly different styles of drawing, mostly so far comics/anime related art styles. Even if you want to be more or less realistic than this some good stuff here both to learn from and to help seed ideas from your character's look and the drawing style you choose.

This one is a set of teachers notes for their cartooning courses! Very handy, done in a looser cartoony style that’s very accessible to beginners while also covering a lot of good drafting basics.

This page of tutorials is really quite extensive! Of those I’ve read so far, some great notes!

Entertain your options! Keep it simple if you’re just starting, remember that expressiveness is probably more important than accuracy at this stage! That’s where gesture comes in.
