Parent Orientation: August 5, 2016
Presentations for parents will start promptly at 3 pm in sha Allah in School Cafeteria. Baby-sitting is not available, parents are requested to keep their young children home
Middle School Initiaves

In sha Allah, Everest Academy is focusing on strengthening the Middle School Program this year; and has launched a number of initiatives in this regard. These include:

- All core subjects being offered are  at AP level.
- Students have the opportunity to sign up for an elective course from Spanish 1, Visual Arts 1, Speech 1, Information to Technology 1, and Study Hall. Click here for Course Selection Sheet.
- There is an increased integration of technology and hands-on activities.
- Our Middle School staffing has been expanded to include subject specialists for the various courses. Click here to view a short video by our Student Council introducing our new teachers.
- In sync with our mission statement to assist our students become successful Muslim Americans, our Middle School students will be involved in leadership activities such as National Junior Honor Society and Student Council.

School Lunch Ordering

Everest Academy offers halal hot lunch for a nominal fee that may be ordered via  Quickschools Parent Portal. All lunch orders must be submitted at least three days prior to the day the child is to receive lunch. Menu items are Zabiha halal; parents are advised to be cognizant of their students’ allergies/ dietary preferences as they place order for lunch. PTO will start to provide pizza on Fridays starting from September 2nd. The form will be provided during the first week of school in sha Allah.

Everest Academy uses 'Quickschools' school management system. You should have received an email invitation with your Parent Login information.  Please follow the steps to log in; and visit your account frequently to stay updated on child's records and progress. In case you have multiple students attending Everest Academy, please make sure all your students are showing in your parent portal. If you haven't received an email as yet, please contact us: info@everest-academy.com.
 
Dismissal is DEAR Time
 
Reminder that dismissal is DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) time for our KG-8 students. Parents please send a book with your student to read while he/ she is waiting to be picked up.

First Day of School: August 8, 2016
 
In sha Allah, classes will begin from August 8th 2016. School hours will be from 7:50 am to 3:15 pm for Prekindergarten and Developmental Kindergarten; and from 7:50 am to 3:40 pm for Kindergarten and up. For the first week only- August 8th through 12th, school hours will be 8:30 – 12:30 for Prekindergarten and Developmental Kindergarten students in order to facilitate smooth transition.
For the convenience of our returning parents whose students are joining Developmental Kindergarten this year, full day option is available for the first week at no extra charge. Please click here to sign up no later than 12 pm of August 3, 2016.
Summer Homework
 
Summer Homework will constitute a major homework grade for Kindergarten through Eighth grade students. Completed summer assignments are due by August 16th. Please click on links below to access and download summer assignments.
Dress Code

Pre-Kindergarten Dress Code:
Wearing uniform is not compulsory for pre-kindergarten students. They are required to adhere to the general hygiene and dress code for all grades.

 
- Attire should be modest and comfortable.
- Clothing should preferably not have any pictures or images and inappropriate language.
- Shoes must be easy to wear and not have laces. Closed-toed, Velcro shoes are ideal.
- Sleeveless shirts, tank tops, or spaghetti straps are not allowed. Sleeves may be either short or long.
 
 Grades DK-8 Dress Code:
School attire should be clean, modest, loose fitting, and comfortable.  Hair should be clean, free of lice, and well groomed. Nails must be short, clean, and free of polish. Winter/ outer wear must be white, black, gray or navy in solid color.

Everest Academy has joined French Toast’s Uniform Program. Everest dress code can be found on FrenchToast.com for DK to Grade 8 students. Please see details below.

Boys: White or sky blue collared shirt with monogram, blue pants, white socks, and closed-toed shoes (grey, black or white). 

Girls: Modest attire, white socks, closed-toed shoes (grey, black or white) - no high heels, no sandals.  All jewelry must be small and simple. Hair must be pinned/ tied.
Girls DK-3 may wear white or sky blue collared blouse or shirt with monogram, navy pants. Navy jacket/tunic/ abaya are optional.
Girls 4-8 are required to wear shirts which fall to mid-thigh, have long sleeves, and are loose-fitting. Abayas are optional.

Girls Grades 4 and up are required to wear white, black, or navy solid colored scarves to cover their hair.   Wearing scarf is not mandatory for girls Grade 3 and below, but they must bring to school to be worn for salaat.

Parents may contact Br. Bilal Marfani at (832) 256 7849 to embroider school monogram on pre-purchased shirts, jackets, and abayas, who will be processing the first batch of order this Friday. Parents may bring their items for embroidery when they come for open house. Only items per school dress code will be accepted.


Consequence for Violation of Dress Code:
Parents are contacted to bring in change of clothes per school uniform code and have their student change into it. Each student’s dress code violation is documented in school management system. After the third time a student is out of approved dress code, a fine of $10 is charged per day.

Uthman ibn Affan reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Allah the Exalted will admit a man into Paradise who was easy in his buying and selling, in his paying debts and seeking repayments.”
