MSGN is partnering with the Maine Food Atlas to allow school gardens to have their own profiles which will become our new Directory. It's a quick and easy process to promote your garden and connect to the hundreds of other food-related entities in the state.

HOST A SCHOOL GARDEN
OPEN HOUSE
DURING MAINE HARVEST LUNCH WEEK
SEPTEMBER 19-23
WHY host an Open House?
- Show of your hard work
- Grow garden leaders - kids can give tours, show a video they made of the garden, lead a game or activity, etc.
- Build support - invite administrators, school board members, parents, families, friends, everyone!
- Recruit volunteers
- Build your community
Here are some things you can do during your Open House:
- Taste Tests of garden produce
- Make veggie creatures
- Create a garden scavenger hunt
- Make solar ovens
- Have a cooking activity - or even a cook-off
- Play music or do an art project
- Ask your local paper to cover the event with a story and pictures
- Hold a raffle
- Decorate pumpkins
- Give tours
(Maine Harvest Lunch Week is brought to you by the Maine Department of Education Nutrition Programs)
