Folks are welcome to arrive earlier if they wish to eat prior to the merry singing.

TELS
(Traveling Evangels of Living Springs)

Thursday, August 25

The TELS group is taking a historic walking & tasting tour in the Vista with Two Gals and a Fork on Thursday, August 25 (4 to 6:30 pm).  The cost is $30 each + $5 for transportation - The bus will leave Living Springs at 3:15 pm.  All restaurants will be in close proximity, so total walking distance will be under a mile. We did this back in September of 2015 and we all enjoyed the experience – the gals are setting up different restaurants.  There is a sign-up sheet in the administration building or contact Beverly Hoppert for information.

School Supply Collection

Hope Ministry team will begin collecting school supplies for students that cannot afford to buy their own – the items will be distributed to four elementary schools within Richland District 2. The collection box will be in the narthex (the item list will be posted on the box) for you to drop off your donations. Donations will be accepted July 31 through August 15 (school starts August 17). We thank you in advance for your willingness to help the less fortunate children in our community.  Contact Karen Kranz kbkranz@gmail.com

2016-2017 Pictorial Directory

You are invited to participate in a new pictorial directory!  Living Springs is making a concerted effort to assemble a pictorial directory of our church families.  (It will also include staff and our preschool families.)
We have partnered with Lifetouch to professionally photograph families for the directory.  Each family photographed will receive a free 8X10 portrait and a directory.  Families will be able to immediately view their portraits and will have an opportunity to purchase portrait gifts.  This is an opportunity NOT a requirement.

Two portrait sessions are scheduled each ½ hour.  Immediately following the portrait session, families will view and select their portrait for the directory and have the option to purchase additional portraits.  The amount of time it takes for the family to be photographed and to select portraits will vary by family.

A New Way to Give ….

especially great for the summer when you’re away!

No Checks, No Cash…Givelify

Living Springs has entered into a new era: the age of anytime, anywhere digital giving.  We have partnered with Givelify, the free, mobile giving app for churches. Givelify enables individuals to give digitally from anywhere, no checks or cash required; your offerings, tithes, and special gifts can be made right from the palm of your hand. There are no frustrating web forms or text-to-give codes to memorize and better yet, the app is free and totally safe and secure.

Givelify simply provides an alternative format for giving; it is not intended to replace our more traditional means for regular giving…offering envelopes, pew envelopes, or your own bank’s direct bill pay.

Favorite Hymns

Has Been Extended!

Summer Favorite Hymns Extended...FOREVER!!!  If you haven't submitted your favorite hymn or song for us to include in worship, you still have time!  We have decided to continue this indefinitely, so that you can continue to have input in our worship and music planning. Hymns can come from our hymnal, but perhaps there is a worship song you have heard on the radio or elsewhere that you want us to begin singing at LSLC. Maybe you have a favorite hymn that isn't in our hymnal. Give us a title and brief blurb as to why this song is so meaningful to you. This information will be included in the bulletin, if your song is selected for use. Worship is built off of the song of the people of the community. Let's expand our repertoire together!

Lessons for Sunday, August 7

First Reading: Genesis 15:1-6

God promises childless and aging Abram that a child of his own will be his heir and that his descendants will number as many as the stars. Abram trusts God’s promise, and through this faith he is considered righteous.

Psalm 33:12-22

Let your lovingkindness be upon us, as we place our hope in you. (Ps. 33:22)

Second Reading: Hebrews 11:1-3, 8-16

Abraham and Sarah exemplify the vision of faith that people of God enact in every age. Their hope and trust in God’s promise allowed them to face an unknown future and to receive the promise of God.

Gospel: Luke 12:32-40

Jesus encourages disciples to invest their hearts and live fully into God’s reign. Instead of facing life with fear, those who know God’s generosity are always ready to receive from God and to give to others.
