Humber LEP enewsletter 3.8.16Since our last newsletter a new government has formed and with it there is more influence from the Humber. The Humber LEP hopes it has gained a political boost after ‘strong supporter of the Humber’ Greg Clark becomes Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and MP for Brigg and Goole and the Isle of Axholme Andrew Percy will be the minister heading up the Northern Powerhouse. Meanwhile David Davis MP for Haltemprice and Howden is Secretary of State for Brexit. We have already had our first ministerial visit to the region With Andrew Percy coming to meet with the Humber LEP and have a tour of the Siemens blade factory in Hull. While he was here he signed the Humber Enterprise Zone MOU and welcomed the approval of 6 new Growth Deal projects. NewsHumber LEP submits £49.5m round three Growth Deal bidThe Humber LEP has submitted its bid for the next round of Government funding through the Growth Deal. Under the Growth Deals round 3, England’s 39 Local Enterprise Partnerships are competing for a share of £1.8bn to support projects in their areas that boost local economic growth and create jobs. The money forms part of the Government’s £12bn Local Growth Fund.
