Braun's amazing catch

 Games played August 1-2, 2016

August 2 games

Detroit 2B Ian Kinsler went 2-for-5 with a two-run single in an 11-5 win over the White Sox. The win, Detroit's 7th in a row, moved the team to within three games of A.L. Central leaders Cleveland.

Toronto CF Kevin Pillar and Houston 3B Alex Bregman both went 0-for-4 in the Blue Jays' 2-1 win. Bregman is 1-for-32 with 2 walks since his July 25 debut.

Milwaukee LF Ryan Braun used his glove and his bat to help propel the Brewers to a 3-2 win over San Diego. Back from a five-day absence due to a sore ribcage, Braun homered in the top of the 6th inning to give Milwaukee a 2-1 lead, and he made an amazing diving grab in the bottom of the 7th to rob Travis Jankowski of a hit. The 426-foot home run was Braun's 15th, but only his second since June 29.

Oakland 3B Danny Valencia doubled and walked in a 5-4 loss to the Angels.

Dodgers CF Joc Pederson went 0-for-4 in a 7-3 loss to Colorado, ending his streak of games with home runs at three.

The Yankees called on reliever Richard Bleier with one out and men on first and third in the 7th inning of Wednesday's 7-1 loss to the Mets. Both men scored as Bleier yielded a single and then a double before retiring Jay Bruce and James Loney to end the inning.

Toronto P Scott Feldman did not play in the Blue Jays' 2-1 win.

There are good days and bad days in sports, and for Jewish baseball players, Tuesday was one of the latter.

Much of the action took place in Houston's 2-1, 14-inning win over Toronto. Blue Jays CF Kevin Pillar went 0-for-5 with two strikeouts, while Astros 3B Alex Bregman went 0-for-6 with three. Meanwhile, reliever Scott Feldman -- whom Toronto had just acquired from Houston in a trade -- came on to pitch the bottom of the 14th inning. He promptly gave up a single and a double, giving Houston a walk-off win. To be fair, Pillar did make a nice grab in the 3rd inning.

The only other Jewish player to see action Tuesday was Yankees reliever Richard Bleier, who came on with two outs and a man on first in the 6th inning of a 6-5 win over the Mets. Bleier yielded a single and a walk to load the bases before being pulled.
