I am pleased to share with you that One Free World International has returned from another successful mission to Iraq. I led a delegation of Canadian officials to visit refugee camps where Yazidi women and children have been displaced to. Travelling with me was The Honourable MP Tony Clement, MP Rachael Harder, former MP Brad Butt, and Director of the Office for Refugees, Archdiocese of Toronto, (ORAT) Dr. Martin Mark.
While in Iraq, we witnessed the horrors of war and met with victims of genocide. We met with survivors and learned of their harrowing journeys from their homes to the camps. We heard stories of assault, rape, torture, and murder. We met with victims and families of victims who had been subjected to the cruelties of an ISIS-led genocide.
This community needs all of the help possible. In June, Canada finally recognized genocide is being committed against Yazidis, but only after the UK, US, EU, and UN had already done so. Since then, the Canadian government has still not done anything to help. The government continues to play politics with the lives of these vulnerable minorities. They must act now to save innocent Yazidi lives.
On July 20th, I presented OFWI and ORAT's joint plan to resettle 400 former Yazidi sex slaves in Canada to the Immigration Committee. The purpose of our trip to Iraq was to continue to advance our plan by laying the ground work in Iraq, but we still need the Canadian government's approval. Help us raise the pressure on the government by taking action.
OFWI can and will continue to help, but we can only do this with your help.
Here is how you can TAKE ACTION:
