Health Focus Group
Dear Community of Practice Members,

Are you a young adult? Would you like to have your voice heard? There a number of upcoming opportunities that offer you the chance to express your opinion on important health issues. First, the BC Centre for Disease Control is hosting focus groups with young adults to determine current health concerns and priorities. Second, the Prime Minister is composing a Youth Council to advise him on national issues of importance. We hope you'll consider pursuing one (or both) of these opportunities.

Your voice is important. Speak out and be heard.

If you know of a student or youth who may be interested in these opportunites, please consider sharing the information below. We hope to encourage all eligible youth to participate.

Calling all interested 18-26 year olds!

The BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) is currently recruiting young adults between the ages of 18 and 26 to participate in a discussion about health-related priorities and mobile application preferences. The BCCDC want to understand the health needs and gaps for young adults today.

If you would like to participate in a focus group and share your thoughts, they would love to hear from you! They are currently seeking feedback from participants who are:

  1. Between the ages of 18 to 26
  2. Comfortable speaking in English
  3. Currently living in British Columbia

Eligible participants will be invited to a 2-3 hour focus group. The discussion will focus on health priorities and challenges for young adults, in addition to identifying technological preferences to help inform the development of a mobile app. This app will be set to launch in BC over the next few years to collect health-related information.

All focus group participants will receive a $25 honorarium for their participation and refreshments will be served. Focus groups will be held in the central-Vancouver and central-Surrey regions in early August.

If you are interested, please contact the BCCDC team at YoungAdultStudy@bccdc.ca to find out if you are eligible.
