On Thursday, August 25, NYC Service held a celebration in honor of the inaugural City Service Corps finishing their service year. We recognize the successful work of 48 New Yorkers who donated time and talent this year to #ServeNYC. The recognition ceremony included speeches from Dr. George Askew, Deputy Commissioner of Health for NYC Department of Health & Mental Hygiene, Rosemary Byrnes of Citi Foundation, and of course two of our members Trime Kaja and Mitchell White. We are proud of everything our members have accomplished this year and thank them for all of their contributions to our great city. We are also excited to welcome our 2017 City Service Corps. If you are interested in joining City Service Corps, apply at nyc.gov/service

Service Year Member Spotlight

"I serve because I love and live by a quote by Martin Luther King Jr. where he says “I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be”. I believe that I can never be who I am truly meant to be if someone else does not have access to opportunities to succeed due to reasons out of their control. If at this moment, I can help build equity and opportunity in my City then I am doing what I love. This year I will be serving with NYC Service as the NYC Youth Leadership Council Coordinator and Community Based Organization Liaison. In this role, I will help high school youth across the City advocate for themselves and their community in policy, practice, and advocacy service. To me, service means that I can give my time, love, and skills to those who need it the most."   ~Roselande Louis

Message from CSO

I am proud to recognize and thank over 300 individuals who have impacted our City serving with one of NYC Service's four AmeriCorps programs. While we acknowledge our members for all of their efforts and talents, we also know that serving our city enhanced their personal and professional growth, helped address community needs, and built civic leadership."
