Hi <<First Name>>,

After a four year wait, the Summer Olympics are finally here again! That means the coming days, evenings and weekends will be filled with volleyball games, swim meets, gymnastics routines and so much more. It’s always inspiring and exciting to watch the world’s top athletes come together to compete and display their talents.

As we know, these athletes have trained for years, and in some cases, their whole lives for a chance to give it their all. But medaling in the Olympics is not all due to talent and training. Any star athlete will tell you that what they eat – the fuel they give their bodies – is crucial to their performance.

While most of us won’t be running the 100 meter dash in Brazil this year, we can still bring the Olympian mindset to our everyday menus. So go ahead, swap out the foods that aren’t giving your body the natural energy it craves, and check out “The Olivia’s Observer Guide to Eating Like an Olympian.”

1. No sugary cereals here. Start the day with a protein-heavy breakfast, like these mini quiches with spinach and ham.
2. Skip the quick but not-so-nutritious sandwich from the place down the block and instead enjoy a lean but filling lunch of grilled chicken and berry salad
3. Resist the mid-afternoon vending machine run and grab an energy-boosting snack instead, like a kale smoothie.
4. Forget the greasy take-out burger. Round out the day with a balanced, healthy plate of spaghetti squash with greens and turkey sausage
