This past weekend was a whirlwind. After worship I discovered that someone had managed to turn off all the power to the Gym building at the street, managing to get to our meter. I then discovered that someone (I'm assuming the same, most likely angry and mentally-illish, person) pulled entire plants out of the ground in the garden and walked across the top of many recently planted (at our work day) plants - managing to break most of the plant stems at the root. I was angry to have to deal with such nonsense, that we shouldn't have to deal with. And I realize that some extent of that is unavoidable in our urban setting, situated on a main thoroughfare. It is both a blessing and a headache for our community to be where we are. If you see anything weird transpiring in or at our building, please be sure to speak up. In the past weeks we've also heard of people stopping to fill up massive containers with our water spigot, as well as things disappearing from the recovery group shelves in the Light House Room.
Choosing to be an open and welcoming community means that we will risk such problems. But it doesn't mean that we have to be victims of it, or tolerate inappropriate behavior. Thank you in advance for your continued help in keeping our campus safe, inviting and beautiful.

Monte has decided to change the way in which we publish the prayer requests shared in worship each week. The goal of this is to free up more print space in our paper bulletin on Sundays in order to share news about upcoming events and gatherings. We consistently do not have enough space to do so each week. So we'll be experimenting for the next 6 weeks (until the end of September) to see if publishing the prayer requests from the previous Sunday in the e-news (as usual) but not in the paper bulletin, allows us to better communicate what's happening in and around the church.
