U.S. EPA Video Training Program Focuses on Water Industry O&M on Tribal Lands

Earlier this year, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency released a series of video presentations on the operation, maintenance, and management of water and wastewater utilities serving Native American Tribes and Alaskan Native Villages. Each of the 10 videos provides information on a different element of O&M—everything from asset management to drinking water distribution systems, to lagoon system management. The videos are available on the U.S. EPA website or at the links below. 

Nominations for Tribal Operator of the Year Due August 31

To acknowledge and celebrate the efforts and hard work water/wastewater system operators in Indian Country, the Inter Tribal Council of Arizona National Tribal Water & Wastewater Operator Certification Program is accepting nominations for the 2016 Tribal Water/Wastewater Operator of the Year Award.

The Public Water Systems Supervision Program will be sponsoring a 2-Day Class on Developing Effective Standard Operating Procedures for Water Distribution Systems in conjunction with KCM Consulting Services, LLC of Phoenix, AZ. The registration is FREE for Navajo Water Operators and has limited seating. This course will provide expertise and knowledge to aid in Developing an effective SOP’s for Water Distribution Systems. Backflow Assembly Tester Training
August 29-September 2 | Portland, Oregon
Hosted by the Inter Tribal Council of Arizona/Tribal Water Systems Program 

This course trains operators in the principles of backflow prevention, theory of cross-connection control, regulations, plumbing codes, inspector and tester responsibilities, as well as repair and testing of backflow assemblies.
