WHO: BACR & Allen Temple Health & Social Services & partners
WHAT: 12-week Job Readiness Training for Construction
WHEN: Cohort Details – Orientation: Monday, August 22nd from 9:00am – 12:00pm
WHERE: Allen Temple Baptist Church, 8501 International Blvd., Oakland
CONTACT/NOTES: Program Overview: Participants will receive a monthly incentive for participation and supportive services; Participants will receive several certifications recognized in the construction industry and gain over 25+ hours of hands-on training​; Participants must commit to a 12-week training course, especially Saturdays. Program Description: ​BACR is partnering with Allen Temple Health & Social Services and local unions to provide Oakland residents access to careers in construction. Participants gain professional development, career coaching, academic support, case management, barrier removal, and construction industry readiness. Participants will obtain industry level certification, be exposed to various construction crafts and gain access to high paying careers in Northern California’s growing construction industry. Qualifications/Requirements: Must be at least 18 years of age. There is no maximum age. Must have a High School Diploma or GED or be in the process of obtaining one. Must have a valid CA Driver’s License or be in the process of obtaining one. Applicant must be in good health and physically able to perform all phases of the work. Applicant must be able to read, write and speak English in order to comprehend instructions on the job and in related training classes and to ensure personal and co-worker safety on the job. WHAT: Foster Youth Program
WHEN: Orientations held on Thursdays, at 1:00pm
WHERE: 3120 Mission Street, at the Library
CONTACT/NOTES: If you are a current or former Foster Youth between the ages of 16-24, Let us help you find employment and provide career guidance. We can help with the following: 6 month paid Internship positions with the City and County of San Francisco or a community based organization; Interviews with JobsNOW! Private sector employers who offer permanent full time or part time employment; or 6 month paid training courses through YES-TAY Program; Help with creating and tailoring resumes and cover letters; Interview preparation and job readiness training; Help with getting your GED or H.S.
