As President of Weston Urban  Randy  is responsible for all aspects of the company’s investing and development, as well as the strategic advancement of the company’s goals: to propel authentic, unique space in downtown San Antonio and to provide San Antonians with vibrant urban options to call home.
 

The former Vice President of Real Estate at Rackspace, Randy  led the cloud computing company’s global portfolio from 2007 to 2011.  During his tenure the company expanded to eight data  centers in the U.S., Hong  Kong  and the United Kingdom. In that time  the company’s worldwide ofce footprint grew to 1.5 million square  feet. Smith  also led the acquisition and transformation of the former Windsor Park Mall into  “The Castle”, Rackspace’s LEED certified global headquarters located in Northeast San Antonio.
 
Prior  to Rackspace and Weston Urban, Randy  led the land acquisition e orts  for a publically traded homebuilder, structuring and negotiating over  $50  million of real property acquisi- tion  and entitlement via various joint ventures and OBS financing arrangements.  Randy began  his career  as a real estate attorney at Hirschler Fleischer specializing in commercial real estate, land use matters, and real estate finance.
 
Randy  has previously served  on the Board of Directors for the YMCA and San Antonio Sports,  and currently serves on the Valero Alamo Bowl  Board of Directors and is a member of the Team Selection Committee.  Randy  also serves on the ULI San Antonio Advisory Board.
 
Randy  earned  his bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University and a J.D. from Washington and Lee University School  of Law in Lexington, Virginia.
