On July 14, 2016, three leaders in agriculture were recognized by the North Carolina Soybean Producers Association for a lifetime of service to the soybean industry with the recently released Glycine max varieties NC-Dunphy, NC-Wilder & NC-Dilday. The varieties were named for Dr. E James Dunphy, Mr. James F. Wilder, and the late Mr. Marion Dilday. Congratulations to these individuals and their families.
Variety Demonstrations
Field Report Aug 17, 2016: It’s never too early to start thinking about soybean variety selection for next year and now is the perfect time to get to see different varieties in the field. NC State conducts official variety testing (OVT) and Dr. Jim Dunphy plants variety demonstrations each year. This means there are over 15 locations across the state where the most promising soybean varieties can be compared side by side. Being able to compare varieties side by side in the field can be very helpful in deciding what to plant next year.

Scouting For Disease
Field Report Aug 10, 2016: With over 50% of N.C.'s soybean crop now in reproductive stages, it’s time to begin thinking about how disease pressure may affect the yield of your crop. Scouting is critical to determine which diseases are present and if a fungicide application may be helpful in protecting yield.
