POWERING PERFORMANCE. INSPIRING EXCELLENCE
– A MESSAGE FROM THE CEO

"
In sport, as in many other facets of life, collaboration and partnership are required to have a successful relationship. We have definitely noticed that at these Games so far, from a personal perspective.

Some of our closest NSO partners - Rugby Canada, Swimming Canada, Rowing Canada, Cycling Canada & Athletics Canada - have all reached the podium already, including tonight's sensational bronze medal win by Andre De Grasse.  CSI Pacific has eight dedicated sport science and sport medicine staff in Rio that work with these NSOs and we're as proud of them as we are the athletes. In addition, all of us are grateful for the ongoing support and leadership provided by Own The Podium. It is this kind of integrated partnership that makes Canadian athletes truly world class.

With more of our staff in Rio currently working with Athletics Canada and Canada Soccer, we are looking forward to seeing those athletes on the podium this week, as well!"

CEO, Canadian Sport Institute Pacific

Marchant Becomes 1st Canadian To Run Marathon & 10k In Same Games

Athletics continued to take centre stage at the Games in Day 9. On top of Andre De Grasse's bronze medal performance, a number of CSI Pacific-affiliated athletes were in action. Derek Drouin (Corruna, ON) and Mike Mason (Nanoose Bay, BC) both competed in the High Jump.  Drouin tied for the highest jump of the day at 2.29m, qualifying him for Tuesday's final, while Mason narrowly missed qualification with an 18th place finish.

In the Marathon, Lanni Marchant (London, ON) finished a strong 24th. It was the first time any Canadian women have competed in the Marathon at an Olympic Games since 1996 in Atlanta.  Marchant also became the first Canadian to complete a 10,000-metre race and a marathon at the Olympics. On Friday, she finished 25th in the 10,000-metre race.
