Mayor of UB commissioned to check the employment legitimacy of government workers

Summary: The new Mayor of Ulaanbaatar S. Batbold has commissioned to research and prepare a comprehensive report on the legitimacy of government workers who were employed after 2012. The Mayor explained that he wishes for his team to be comprised of professional and experienced staff and that this is a chance to ‘clean up’ the civil service and enhance their skills. However, the fact the Mayor asked to specifically check staff who were employed after 2012, the year when the DP got the majority of votes in the parliamentary election, is attracting much interest. Some suspect that this might be the start of modern political repression by the MPP.
