MOONFIRE :  OCCULT & DARK ART GROUP SHOW
OUTRÉ GALLERY MELBOURNE
AUGUST 26 - SEPTEMBER 16

Opening this Friday night, "Moon Fire" is a group show exploring dark and occult themes in art. The exhibition features four artists from around the globe: Courtney Brooke (USA), Sin Eater (UK), Annita Maslov (Australia), and Bryn Perrott (Deerjerk) (USA). Working in various mediums from woodcuts to photographs to pen and ink, the work is as diverse as the techniques but unified in it's exploration of the hidden.

In addition to these four contemporary artists we will have select work from the influential master of Dark Art H.R. Giger for sale, plus an original by infamous Australian occult artist Rosaleen Norton (not for sale) on show for the event.

Join us for the opening on Friday August 26 from 6pm with drinks courtesy of Feral Brewing. All welcome. No RSVP required. The show is running concurrently with Sam Yong's "Keepsakes" (see below).

Based in Melbourne, Sam Yong is a self-taught multi-disciplinary artist. Working with pencil, water-colour and ink for his drawing and gouache, acrylics and oils for his paintings, Sam's latest works aim to present nature in ways that will not only resonate with the audience, but also conjure a sense of unfamiliarity and at times, unease. Sam's work depicts the delicate balance between life and death; love and loss, predator and prey and nature's violent ‘chain of being', with a uniquely intricate simplicity.

Join us and the artist for the opening of his show from 6pm Friday 26 August. Drinks courtesy of Feral Brewing.

Maddy Young is an artist and designer born in Brisbane, and currently residing in Melbourne. Her works combine a love for the natural world with a continuous exploration of complex feelings and themes of femininity, and she is best known for her illustrative work and figurative paper cuts.

"COVEN: A SEANCE by Rhys Cooper" opening night photos

Melbourne artist Rhys Cooper is world renowned for his poster art for bands including Pearl Jam, Queens of the Stone Age and the Misfits as well as a range of film related work. We were thrilled to host his show “Coven: A Seance by Rhys Cooper”. The artist employed his exacting skill to create a series of lovingly printed silkscreens prints tinged with mystery, horror and darkness. Keen fans attending the opening chatted with Rhys about technique, inspirations and favourite posters and enjoyed a drink courtesy of Feral Brewing.
