Hari Om!
Welcome to September....
Namaste everyone...really hope you have had a wonderful August. I had fun again with Becki of Red Square Photography; check her out.  Thought we needed a summery picture before autumn!!  They do have a summer offer on...if you are quick.

I've tried to scale this edition down as we all try and get back into a routine!  Classes are back as normal on 5th September and there is room in all of them.  I have moved into a bigger room on a Thursday at Parkview School, Oakwood.  Due to a couple of people moving to a different day, I now have two spaces in the Allestree evening class on a Monday.  The new Spondon class on a Wednesday morning has had loads of interest...just hope you all turn up!  I am always very happy to see previous students so please don't be shy about coming to class if you haven't been for a while.

August has been fun.  I went off to Italy on a Yantra and Mantra course and it was amazing.  Learnt so much and met some amazing people from all over Europe.  Also a new oppotunity...which I will share in a few months!

Nick and I went up to Liverpool recently to meet up with Binay and Sami from Nepal.  It was so good to see them having met them in April whilst over there.  It is their village you have helped rebuild and I finally got to meet the folks in Liverpool who were my initial contact.  A brilliant day.

Inbetween classes I have also visited my mum in Scotland...Nick cycled and I drove!  It was a great three days journey travelling through Yorkshire, and what a county.  I loved how it reminded me so much of hay making in my childhood...small fields and tractors...traditional methods!  Loved the walls, the trees, the sheep and the flowers and the isolation on the moor.  Mum wasn't too well but she will be fine and all is a blessing.

There is another holiday coming up, so there will be NO OCTOBER NEWSLETTER.  Apolgies for this -  I will send a reminder about the workshops in October nearer the time.

Our next big event is the Christmas Craft Fair for Nepal on November 27th in Darley Abbey VIllage Hall.  Do let your friends and family know.  There will be many different crafters there and all selling items ideal for Christmas presents - birthdays, christenings, teachers...etc!!  More on this next month as we finalise all the details.  I will be looking for cakes again...if any of you can oblige that would be super!

More apologies...I am still sorting out what is happening next year regarding yoga holidays.  I really want to do a trip to Europe but want to make sure the venue is right.  I have sent some more feelers out so will keep you posted.  A little more information here  about the holidays being planned.

Fancy a break in beautiful Wales - off grid?

My dad has recently completed making an authentic shepherds hut...just like the one he had as a young man...a long time ago!  I have yet to see it to take proper pictures - but will share next time.
It has a single bed (very comfy as I ordered the mattress and bedding!), a log burner (very cosy when on), and is situated in a field close to the house for toilet and bath.  There is no mains electricity in the hut but you can charge things in the house or from a solar charger.

It is an ideal spot to meditate; practice yoga; be completely with nature; to write, paint, relax; go for walks.
If you would like more information do let me know.

1st to 9th April 2017 and
8th to 16th April 2017

Places available on both weeks.

This luxury retreat, to Northern Kerala, India, includes 7 days hermitage stay and is ideal for those that want to dip into the sea or infinity pool; to practice varied yoga and meditation either in the Patanjali Hall or on the beach; to experience 5 ayurveda treatments; be surrounded by unspoilt nature.
To discuss or book your place please contact me.  Full details on the whole trip can be found here.
And if you are wondering why I have chosen this venue, above all others, have a look at Slow Life.

I love my tops and leggings from Yogichi.  They have a sale on at the moment too.  Don't forget to use your discount code 'Oakwood' you will get a discount.
You can get your yoga bag as well.  Go take a look.

Karma Yoga is a little bit of joke between myself and a couple of my yoga buddies!  We are very good karma yogis when it comes to the selfless action side of things.  But, I came across the attached the other day and thought I would share it with you as food for thought.  Some great points here, and maybe some challenging ones.  May be, some, you completely disagree with.

The beauty of yoga...it helps to look at ourselves and our actions and thoughts.

There may be a 'law' you find difficult  - is that the one you need to work on?!
12 Laws of Karma
Mantra

As many of you know I love mantra and chanting, and I have been trying to teach you the Gayatri Mantra since Easter!  The energy around mantra is so beneficial to our health.  During a quiet moment with my dear friend Janice today, we sat in a beautiful garden and quietly chanted OM together 27 times.  The energy and how we felt connected to each other and all around us, I simply cannot put into words.  It was just beautiful.
Try it.  Sit either inside or outside, notice all around you, and allow yourself to make the sound of OM.  At the end FEEL and OBSERVE without making any judgement.
Allow yourself to BE in the MOMENT.

Here is a You Tube link, my choice but there are many...OM mantra
