Smalls/Mezzrow Newsletter - August 15th, 2016

Dear Friends:

I was on Facebook the other day and to my amazement I saw a live stream of a guy using suction cups to climb up Trump Tower. It wasn't the guy climbing that amazed me, it was the live streaming on Facebook that blew my mind. I quickly did some research and it turns out that we can direct our live feed to our Facebook Fan Page (CLICK HERE) So I began to stream about one hour or so live from the club and immediately reached literally thousands of fans. It was amazing to see the comments from folks checking in around the world - everyone seemed to happy and grateful to see this stream. I, of course, am trying to remind everyone that they can watch all of our streams from open to close for free by registering on SmallsLIVE.com. But this could be a new avenue for us to really disseminate the music to a far broader fan base. It's an amazing opportunity and one that we'll continue to research and utilize in the coming months.

At Smalls this week I'm excited to announce a new residency for vibraphonist Steve Nelson. Steve's been spending a lot more time down at the club and has expressed interest in performing regularly. Please take advantage of seeing this great artist perform as part of the regular Tuesday rotation. Also, don't miss on Wednesday night the Brooklyn Jazz Underground Festival. This is about our 5th year doing this and it features a lot of great bands. Why they don't just do it in Brooklyn I never understand but we're glad to have them.
