Hi <<First Name>>,

JNTO will be exhibiting at Luxperience this year, along with co-exhibitors Conrad Tokyo and Boutique JTB. If you are attending, even if you do not have a pre-scheduled appointment, please come say hello during break times; we would love to meet you!

InsideJapan Tours has opened an Australia branch in Brisbane this month. The ground handler and tour operator with offices in the UK, US and Japan hopes to offer an even better service to its Australian clients, as well as its original small group tours and innovative Self Guided Adventures. If it is in Japan, InsideJapan can probably do it.

Insider Tip #16: Business card etiquette
Exchanging business cards, known as meishi, is an essential part of Japanese business etiquette. If you expect to meet potential business partners, be sure to carry your business card with you when traveling in Japan, and follow these tips to facilitate a smooth beginning to your relationship with Japanese professionals.

Do the exchange standing up; this shows more respect. Present your card with both hands, holding it so that the text faces your contact, and introduce yourself, bowing slightly. (If you can do it in Japanese, even better! For example, “JNTO no Miles Sally desu. Yoroshiku onegaishimasu.) If meeting a group of people, it is best to introduce yourself and exchange cards with each individual one by one.

When receiving a card, take the near corners with both hands and bow in return. Read the details on the card before moving on to the next person. You can stack the cards you receive in your hand, but when you sit down to a conference table, place each card face up in front of you. If you are at a networking event and aren’t sitting, place the card neatly into your business card case or wallet, not into a pocket.
