August 16, 2016
Dear members of the St. Mary’s & Assumption community,
Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year! We hope you had a restful and relaxing summer. Our teachers have been busy preparing their classrooms and lesson plans that promise to make for an exceptional educational experience for your student. I’m thrilled to be back for my third year as your principal and am ready to help our students reach their potential spiritually, academically, and socially. I am proud to continue the St. Mary’s tradition of academic excellence.
Each year brings positive change. We extend a warm welcome to all the new families who will join our community. Also, we are proud to welcome Miss Jessica Hanson as our new 6th grade teacher.
As we begin the new school year, we truly believe that communication is the key to a successful educational experience. Education is a partnership between all members of the school, students, parents/guardians and the community. All students are more successful when we work together as a team. It is important to note that the research shows when parents and guardians are involved in their student’s education all students do better in school. There are several ways that parents and guardians can help their student have a successful school year:
- Send your student to school every day on time.
- Make sure your student gets eight hours of sleep each night. “Unplug” two hours before bed. This gives your student’s brain a chance to unwind and get ready for sleep.
- Establish a routine for homework. Give your student a quiet place to study and consistent time each evening to work on school assignments.
- Keep in touch with your student’s teacher via email or telephone.
- Attend school events, classroom events, and conferences.
I am honored to serve as the principal of St. Mary’s School. Thank you for entrusting your student to our care. We look forward to making it a great year together. May God bless you and your family.
Mr. J. Ferriero, M.Ed.
