New Look Web Pages for PCO
In April we launched our new look web pages. Pages dedicated to the South West Regional Coastal Monitoring Programme are now brighter and more accessible and contain a wealth of new information and resources as well as links to all our real-time data, archived data and reports!

Our pages can still be accessed in the same way - via the regions menu on the National Coastal Monitoring site or directly at www.southwest.coastalmonitoring.org

You can find out more about some of the new features below or you can browse the pages and let us know what you think!

Learning
Our new learning pages contain downloadable worksheets aimed at students of GCSE level. Based around coastal processes at several well known sites around the South West coast such as Slapton Sands, Dawlish Warren and Porlock Bay we're hoping that these worksheets will help to inspire the next generation of coastal process scientists!

Our Data
These pages contain up to date information about all the types of data we collect as part of the Programme. Monthly meteorological data from the National Coastwatch Institution’s (NCI) Exmouth station is kindly provided to East Devon District Council by the NCI and is archived and made available by PCO through the 'Other Data' page.

Resources
This page will be regularly updated and holds useful shapefiles, clifftop mapping and witness diagrams for our GPS control points which can all be directly downloaded.
Survey Schedules

We've updated our LiDAR, aerial photography and topographic beach survey schedules to reflect our plans for the third phase of our monitoring Programme.

Keep an eye on these schedules, available on our website, to keep up to date with when we'll be surveying in your area over the next five years.

Non-Native Species Report

During the ground truth surveys for our latest habitat mapping our contractors came across a number of non-native species.

We've commissioned a report on these species which is now available to download from our website.

Laser Scanner

PCO have recently acquired a new laser scanner, increasing our survey team's data collection capabilities.

We'll be using the scanner to collect data for cliffs and sea defences as and where neccessary, starting with a scan at Chesil Beach.
New Addition to the PCO Team

We'd like to welcome PCO's newest recruit Josh Webborn to the team!

Josh joined the team in June and will be looking after our South Devon and Dorset dataset whilst Josie is away.
Programme Feedback

We are always interested in hearing your views and feedback on the Programme, but it is now especially important to us as we move into Phase III.

Please spare a few minutes to fill out our survey so we can continue to deliver a relevant and cost-effective Programme.
