Nature-inspired innovators to take the stage at a biomimicry pitch event and showcase


Come see nature-inspired innovation in action at the first annual Biomimicry Pitch Event and Technology Showcase on October 20, 2016, in San Francisco.
Featuring a VIP judge panel, this event will be a fun, festive, biomimicry-themed pitch session, starring seven teams from the Biomimicry Global Design Challenge Accelerator. Enjoy heavy appetizers, a cash bar, and opportunities to meet and mingle with the Accelerator entrepreneurs, as they showcase their food system innovations.

Innovative modular gardening system wins the student Living Product Prize.

Soon, it may be even easier to grow healthy food, right in your own home. 

Using inspiration from bees, the lobed comb jellyfish, the Suriname sea toad, and the earth’s water cycle, a team from California State University, Long Beach developed a water and space-efficient home gardening system that captured the 2016 student Living Product Prize.  

The Living Product Prize, a new initiative of the Biomimicry Global Design Challenge created in partnership with the International Living Future Institute, highlights design products that mimic nature’s design principles and function as elegantly as anything found in the natural world. Learn more.

Accelerator team wins prize in Thailand

The teams in the Biomimicry Global Design Challenge Accelerator continue to win awards in their home regions for their food system innovations.

Team BioX, one of the seven teams currently enrolled in the Accelerator program, was selected to pitch at the Startup Thailand Summit in Bangkok. As a result, they won a prestigious award to be part of the regional HATCH Incubator by KMUTT.

Congratulations to the whole team! They will also compete for the $100,000 Ray C. Anderson Foundation "Ray of Hope" Prize at Bioneers in October 2016.
