Return to Two Services
The fall semester is nearly here, which means we'll soon return to our two service Sunday schedule. Coming up on Sunday, August 28, you'll be able to choose between our identical 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. services. Remember that we offer full children's ministry during the early service and childcare is provided during the latter. We hope to see you at one of these services!

 ReVerb Summer Nights
Be sure to join us this Sunday evening as we celebrate our final Summer Night of 2016! Summer Nights is a time to hang out with friends, eat good food, and grow in community together. We will also have a time of devotion and prayer. This Sunday, August 14, we will meet at the home of the Pensons at 6:00 p.m. to kick off a brand new school year.

 Welcome Week!
Summer is coming to an end and fall is just around the corner. Classes will start soon and with that comes the stress of homework and papers and exams. But don't think about that stuff yet! Join Connect, Northstar's college ministry, as we celebrate the start of a new semester with Bubble Soccer on August 23, a bonfire on August 27, and a welcome reception after our 11:00 a.m. service on August 28. We love serving our students and hope to see you at each of these events!

 Welcome Aaron Peck... Again!
Please join us in welcoming Aaron Peck as he takes on new roles with our staff. In addition to continuing as a Children's Ministry Assistant, Aaron will also be our Creative Content Director and will be supervising our Stephen Ministry. Aaron has been a member of Northstar Church for a little more than three years and is excited to expand into new areas of ministry. All those roles make for a lengthy job title. Can you come up with something clever that will fit on one line? Let us know what you think Aaron's new job title should be and if your suggestion is chosen, you'll win a free Northstar t-shirt!

GAP Small Group Kickoff
Small groups are starting up soon! Join the GAP ministry on Saturday, August 27 at 6:00 p.m. at Blacksburg Municipal Park to celebrate the beginning of a new semester. Come out for food and fun as you meet new people and connect with old friends.

Father/Son Camping Trip
If you like the outdoors, bring your boys out to join us the weekend of August 12 for camping and canoeing on the New River. Cost is $20 per family, which will include your camping spot and breakfast on Saturday. If you need to rent a canoe, they are available for $35.

 Text to Give
We've implemented a new feature that makes it easier than ever to give for those of you who would like to participate but have left cash or checkbook at home. Simply text "Give $5" (or whatever amount you would like) to 540-427-7724 and, after a quick 1-minute set up process, you'll be ready to "text to give" with Northstar! You can designate which campus (Blacksburg or Pulaski), what fund (General, Immeasurably More, etc.), and your giving will be tracked on MyNorthstar for your own convenience and personal reporting.
 We're Looking for a Few Good Volunteers
The fall semester will be here before you know it! With a new semester comes new opportunities to serve and we are looking for folks who are interested in meeting new people and want to invest in the kingdom of God through service. We want to encourage you to get involved in an area where you can use your talents to bless others, whether that be with children's ministry, youth, college students, or creative arts. One of our primary needs in the coming months will be with our Sunday Serve Team, which helps prepare Blacksburg Middle School for worship each week.

 Noodles for Newborns
Noodles for Newborns is a way for us as a church to show Christ’s love to the New River Valley. Every family leaving The Birth Place at Montgomery Regional Hospital will get a bag with a box of noddles, sauce and a box of brownies. The bag will also have all of Northstar’s information. This is a simple yet effective way for us to Be the Church. All of the items inside the bag will be coming from donations made by us. Every month the bags will be delivered to the hospital and given to families leaving. About 40 babies a month are born at this hospital, giving us the opportunity to make an impact in the lives of 40 families. Please be in prayer about ways in which you can serve this ministry, from purchasing items to packing bags, or even donating money to be used to buy items for the bags.
