BCTC Summer Hours
BCTC has reduced office hours this month. To contact us, email us at admin@bctouring.org and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible. Normal office hours will resume September 5.

Arts Northwest: BC Presenter Members Attend FREE
Under a reciprocal arrangement with Arts Northwest, BCTC presenter members have an opportunity to attend the Arts Northwest conference in Spokane from October 10-13 at no cost. This complimentary registration does not include meals. If you are interested in attending, please contact Joanna at fyi@bctouring.org.

 
BCTC Regional Fall Symposium, September 16-17, Nelson
BC Touring Council, in partnership with the BC Arts Council, Columbia Basin Trust and Columbia Kootenay Cultural Alliance is hosting The Impact of the Arts: Enhancing Creative and Economic Vitality in Rural Communities on Friday, September 16 & Saturday, September 17 in Nelson.

This event offers an opportunity to recognize, document, share, support and enhance the impact of exemplary performing arts presenters and other arts organizations in the Columbia Basin/South East region of BC.

BCTC’s 41st annual showcase and booking conference for performing arts touring and presenting takes place at the Hilton Vancouver Metrotown from March 30 to April 2, 2017.

Aspiring & Emerging Artists Program Renewed for 2016-2017
BCTC in partnership with the BC Arts Council is pleased to announce that the Aspiring & Emerging Artists Program has been renewed. Programs include:

On the Road Touring & Training Workshop for Theatre/Comedy Artists at Vancouver Fringe Festival
BCTC, in partnership with the Vancouver Fringe Festival, will host a one-day On the Road workshop on September 13 at Studio 1398 on Granville Island. To register or for more information, visit our website.
 
Warming up the Act funding program: Re-launch in September
Warming Up the Act (WUTA) provides funding to BC presenters to engage aspiring and emerging BC artists as openers for main stage artists/acts presented as part of a series or season. The program will be launched again in early September. Watch BCTC’s newsletter and website this fall for more details.

 
Youth Friendly Venue Inventory
A directory of youth friendly venues has been added to BCTC’s website by region. We are currently working on profiles for some of these venues, which will be added to our website over the coming weeks.

Apply to Showcase at ArtStarts in Schools: Deadline October 7
ArtStarts in Schools invites performing artists from all disciplines to apply to showcase at the annual ArtStarts Showcase and Conference happening March 6 & 7, 2017.
 
BreakOut West Announces the 2016 Festival Line-up
The Western Canadian Music Alliance is pleased to announce the musical line-up for the 2016 BreakOut West Festival, taking place in Regina, from October 13-16.

 
Call for Artist Submissions: Canada 150 Performance Series: Deadline August 22
To help celebrate Canada’s 150th, the Atlantic Presenters Association, in partnership with RADARTS, presents The Canada 150 Performance Series. This series will tour through Atlantic Canada in 2017 and will feature multi-disciplinary artists from six Canadian Regions. For more info or to apply, visit their website.

Are you a leader in arts management who is looking for funding to pursue professional development or mentorship opportunities?
The John Hobday Award in Arts Management offers up to two awards of $10,000 annually to established and mid-career arts managers.
 
Culture Days: Share Your Love of Culture contest, deadline October 2
Culture Days and Sun Life Financial invite you to play a starring role in Canada’s love affair with culture with the Share Your Love of Culture contest. Create a 30 – 60 second video expressing your creativity and you could win a chance for it to be seen at Cineplex Cinemas across Canada and 24 free movie passes for a year.
 
Heather Gibson joins NAC Presents
Heather Gibson, founder and artistic producer of Halifax's In the Dead of Winter Music Festival, will be assuming the role of executive producer of Ottawa's NAC Presents on September 20. She will lead a team to program more than 50 concerts per season dedicated to established and emerging Canadian singer-songwriters.
 
Indigenous music talent contest: Deadline August 31
imagineNATIVE is delighted to announce Bull’s Eye, a new music talent search in partnership with Slaight Music that seeks to nurture Canada’s newest music talent with unprecedented opportunities, including a $10,000 cash award.
 
Manitoba Showcase: Registration Open, Early deadline: September 20
Registration is now open for Manitoba Showcase taking place October 20-23 in Morden. Register by September 20 to take advantage of early rates.
 
Ontario Contact: Registration Open
Ontario Contact is a three-day conference taking November 3-5 in Peterborough. Register by September 22 to take advantage of early rates.
 
Opportunity for Input on Infrastructure Funding
The Government of Canada has laid out a plan to invest more than $120 billion in infrastructure over the next 10 years and Phase 1 is already underway. For Phase 2, they are seeking input from communities, stakeholders, and Canadians through infraconsults.ca.
 
OSAC: Register for 2016 Showcase Conference

Program invests in BC’s cultural infrastructure. Deadline September 1
Arts and culture organizations now can apply for grants of up to $50,000 for small capital projects. For guidelines and other information, visit their website.
 

SpaceFinder BC: Official launch this fall
SpaceFinder is a free online database of creative spaces that connects those with rentable spaces with those looking to rent. If you have space to rent, you can register at SpaceFinder BC. Once the site is officially launched in September, those looking for available space will easily be able to find you.

 
Call for Applications: CHRC Talent to Lead: Deadline September 15
Talent to Lead (T2L) is designed for mid-­career cultural managers seeking to take their careers to the next level of leadership. It creates opportunities to learn from one another and build relationships with other leaders, while also getting expert support from top-notch executives in the field.
