Eagle Name Unveiling at Parkville Days

Kansas City Power & Light Power Outage Update
The mayor and city administrator met on August 4 with representatives from KCP&L to discuss the recent frequency of electricity outages in Parkville. Outages are caused primarily by line damage from tree debris and high load volumes due to excessive heat. Much of the feeder cables serving Parkville are in heavily treed areas.

The City of Parkville is assisting KCP&L with evaluating several options to improve redundancy in the system and/or improve access for maintenance in order to reduce the duration of outages. A public work session is scheduled on Tuesday, September 20 at 5:30 p.m. at Parkville City Hall to brief the Board of Aldermen on the challenges and possible solutions. Members of the public are welcome to attend to learn more.

City leaders are well aware of the frustration and inconvenience caused by frequent outages. We are doing all we can to improve the situation. Residents and businesses should report outages to the KCP&L hotline at 1-888-LIGHT-KC (1-888-544-4852). Be sure to specify if it is a recurring outage and request a frequent outage investigation.
