WELCOME BACK RAPTOR FAMILIES AND FRIENDS!
(Left to right: Crystal Rea, Receptionist, Margaret Santos, Secretary, Colleen Clark, Assistant Principal, Maryanne Manitta, Attendance, Marty Alberti, Principal, Jaime Perry, Counselor)
We LOVE volunteers on campus at Creekview Ranch!

This year we as a district are adding new measures to ensure increased safety for our students, staff and community.

The first being the new Raptor Check In system.  Upon entering our school site, visitors will now be asked to present a valid state-issued ID (such as a driver’s license or ID card), which will be scanned into the Raptor Visitor Management system. Upon reading the information, Raptor will check the national database of registered sexual offenders. Please note that the Raptor system only scans the visitor’s name, date of birth, and photo for comparison with the national database of registered sex offenders. Additional visitor data from the identification cards is not gathered, nor is the system connected to any other database such as the Department of Motor Vehicles. Therefore, any other information connected to the visitor’s identification is not accessible to any of the users. Once entry is approved, within seconds Raptor will issue a badge printed with the visitor’s name, photo, date, time, and destination/purpose for the visit.

Volunteering in Dry Creek Schools. Here's what you need to Know!

Dry Creek School District has updated its procedures for Volunteering at the school site and on Field Trips.

If you plan on volunteering at any of the schools in Dry Creek Joint Elementary School District you will now be required to fill out a Volunteer Application.  (These applications are available at all school offices).  All volunteer applications need to be turned into the school site you are volunteering at and will be held on file for the 2016-2017 school year.

If you are planning on attending a Field Trip at any time during the year, you will need to be Fingerprinted and cleared by the district prior to attending a Field Trip.  You will need to work with your child's teacher in arranging for attending a Field Trip. They will notify the District of your interest and then you will receive a LIVESCAN form to take to a LIVESCAN facility to be fingerprinted.  Once the district receives clearance of your LIVESCAN we will notify the school of the clearance.  Clearances will be kept on file with the district and we will ask annually if you would like to remain on the LiveScan list.  Once a parent has District clearance, they will not need to print each year.

IMPORTANT!! YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE FINGERPRINTED TO VOLUNTEER IN THE CLASSROOM, YOU ONLY NEED TO FINGERPRINT IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON ATTENDING A FIELD TRIP.

The safety of our students and staff is our hightest priority.  Thank you in advance for your understanding and support of enhancing school safety protocols within our district and at Creekview Ranch.

SEPTEMBER  LIFE SKILLS OF THE MONTH:
Self Control
(I use common sense.)

A child who can’t follow rules is a child who’s always in trouble. This book starts with simple reasons why we have rules: to help us stay safe, learn, be fair, and get along. Then it presents just four basic rules: “Listen,” “Best Work,” “Hands and Body to Myself,” and “Please and Thank You.” The focus throughout is on the positive sense of pride that comes with learning to follow rules.
APPOINTMENTS DURING SCHOOL HOURS?

We can have your student waiting for you, in the office, so you can be on your way promptly.

1. Send your student, to school, with a note on the day of the appointment.
2. Your student takes the note to the office before school begins.
3. Your student will be issued a pass to be released from class at the time you indicate.
4. Your student will come to the office and be waiting for you!

Creekview Ranch Counseling Center

The CVR counseling center provides support and guidance for students throughout their entire K-8 school experience.

Mrs. Perry is available 5 days a week to assist with personal/social issues, academic issues, career/goal planning and scheduling concerns.

Students can make an appointment to see Mrs. Perry by turning in a counseling request form available in the classrooms or by stopping by the office during non-class time.

Parents may contact Mrs. Perry through the school office at 770-8845 ext. 4613 or via email at jperry@dcjesd.us

Interpreters Needed

Parents/community members who are interested in being an interpreter in our district for non English speaking families, please contact Kelly Hall at the district office - 770-8857.  This is a great service in connecting students, parents, and our schools in ensuring student success.  The hourly rate is $25.00.

If interested, parents/community members must complete a background check using the Live Scan screening fingerprint process.  There is a cost associated with this process which is not reimbursed by the district.  Once this procedure is completed, we will add you to our interpreter list.

Free and Reduced Lunch

Free and Reduced Lunch applications are now available on the CVR website or in the school office.

Simply click on this link: Free and Reduced Lunch Application, print out the application, fill it in and return your completed application to the school office.

Please note:  It takes 3—4 days for applications to be processed and your child will not receive free and reduced lunch during the application period.  Please send your child with lunch money or a sack lunch until your application is approved.

Deadline to submit Free/Reduced Applications is September 23rd.

Please note:  If your child participated in this program last year, you will need to complete the application again for this school year.  Applications are only good for one school year and must be renewed annually.

  • Students may carry medication ONLY with the written consent of the physician (inhalers and emergency medications only).
  • Medication must be in original container and must be brought to school by an adult.
  • Medication consent is valid only for the current school year.
If you have any questions about medication use at school, please contact the school office or your school nurse at 770-8845 ext. 4630.

WATCH DOGS PIZZA NIGHT
On September 7th from 6:00 –7:00pm we will be having our annual ‘Dads and Kids’ Pizza Night at our school. You will meet here at the school cafeteria at 6:00 pm for FREE pizza and drinks. At 6:00 pm we will have a presentation about our WATCH D.O.G.S.® (Dads Of Great Students) Program. WATCH D.O.G.S.® is an innovative program being used by schools across America which helps them to be positively impacted by the committed involvement of fathers and father-figures in their student’s life.  (Click Here for full flyer and details).  RSVP is required.
Thank you for your continued patience and diligence in helping us welcome and dismiss students safely from our campus daily.  It takes our entire community working together and following the same protocol to ensure the safest drop-off and pick-up for our students.

A few reminders:
  • All cars pull all the way forward on both sides of the peninsula to allow for safe curbside pick-up and drop-off.
  • Bus transportation is one option some families may consider.  For additional information on bussing please contact our Transportation Department at 916-770-8800 and select option 3.
  • Carpooling will reduce the number of vehicles on campus.
  • Walk, bike, scooter to school.
  • Select a common meeting location for all siblings at the front of campus.  When the students see their ride they will walk down the peninsula and meet the car after it has pulled all the way forward.
  • Be considerate of the neighborhood.  Stay clear of private driveways, roads and property.  The drive directly across the street from our entrance is private property as well as Glen Lane, Almond Blossom Lane, St. Julian Way and Glaser Lane.  Use public roads to get to school (Vineyard, Cook Riolo and PFE are public roads).
  • All students must exit/enter the vehicle on the passenger side.
  • If you would like to et out of your vehicle to assist your child then please park the car in a marked parking space.  Do not get out of your car in the loading/unloading zone.
Parking at Creekview Ranch

Creekview Ranch has limited parking spaces available for our families and other visitors.  This limited parking typically only impacts families on the days when we have large events.  To help accommodate parking for all visitors, we do have an overflow parking lot available for daily use.  This is the large dirt/gravel lot on the right side of the main driveway when you enter campus.

Please do not park in the District Support Services parking lot (the new building on the right when you drive in).  Their lot has many buses coming in and out and their limited spaces are for the DSS employees and guests only.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Messages and Deliveries

To minimize classroom interruptions and protect instructional time, the office staff is not able to deliver personal messages or items (i.e., lunch money, books, planners, PE Clothing, etc.) during the school day.  The office will only deliver messages in the case of an actual emergency.

Miscellaneous items brought to the office for students will be placed in the “Student Pick Up” area.  If your child thinks a delivery may be made they are encouraged to check with the office.

Lunches brought in for students will be placed on the “Lunch Cart” and brought out to the lunch area during your child’s lunch time.
