Dear Church,
As students and teachers begin school next week, we are taking time in worship on Sunday to send them off with our blessings. At 9:30 am we will gather to worship, welcoming guests who are teachers and students, blessing them as they begin another school year. Please invite, pick up, and bring your friends and family who are teachers and/or students (from pre-school to post-grad, we are blessing them all).
My sermon this week will focus on Luke 14.1,7-14 and the radical hospitality that is found in God's kingdom. Jesus tells a parable that reminds me of the cafeteria at school during lunch time. When I was in school, there were strict unwritten rules about where people could sit. Jesus turns these rules upside down and shows us what it is like in God's kingdom, and what God's dream for earth is. We'll explore this and more in a sermon geared for all ages as we send our students and teachers off to another school year.

Worship Returns to 10:00 AM
on September 11th
We are kicking off the new program year on September 11th. We will return to worshipping at 10 am, Sunday School will return, and we begin the fall sermon series on God's Promises as we journey through the First Testament. See you in Church.

"Lordship Run-About" 5K Road Race & Fun Run
23rd Annual - Saturday, 9/10/16
Kid’s fun run - 8:30 A.M.
5K ROAD RACE – 9:00 A.M.
Sponsorship Agreements are available in the narthex and by contacting the office.
There are 4 levels of sponsorship: $500, $250, $100, and $50. For your sponsorship, you will receive the new complimentary Sport-Tek Dri T-shirt. Donations are tax-deductible. The sponsorship deadline is August 22, 2016.
Road Race Entry Forms are available in the narthex and by contacting the office.
The entry fee for the 5K is $20 if paid by 9/9; and then $23 after 9/9. The entry fee for the Fun Run is $5. The Teen Team Special is $12/person if entries are received together. T-shirts are distributed to all pre-registered 5K & Kid Fun Run participants and the 1st 100 race-day runners. 5K Awards to 1st Male & Female Finishers; 1st Male & Female Lordship Finishers; 3 deep into 10 year age group through 60+. Teen Team Competition – Award to top Male & Female; 4 person team 18 & under.
Course: The course is extremely flat and scenic; USATF certified.
Raffle Items for the Race would be appreciated.
Gift certificates ($10-$25) are best for either: coffee houses; Staples; restaurants; or ice cream shops. Please forward these to the Race Committee or leave at the office.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – This is a big event for the church and volunteers are in need to fill various positions. Sign-up sheets will be in the narthex for those who are interested in lending a hand!
FOOD DONATIONS SOUGHT – A sign-up sheet will be in the narthex for needed food donations for the race. Please sign-up by Tuesday, September 6, 2016!

**If you are not currently active on a committee that sponsors monthly coffee hours, and you would like to participate to sponsor a coffee hour, the summer is a good time to help fill this fellowship need.
