Pastor's E-note

August 26, 2016

Dear Mt. Pisgah family,
This week we have witnessed the devastation that has taken place in Louisiana and Mississippi because of the severe flooding. For the next several weeks Mt. Pisgah will be taking up a special offering and receiving funds to help support the relief effort taking place in the Gulf Coast area.

These are times where we can be the hands and feet of Jesus in very real ways. I hope you will prayerfully consider supporting our brothers and sisters whose lives have been turned upside down. Please make your checks out to "Mt. Pisgah" and place "Flood" in the memo section. The Advance Number is #901670.

Thanks you so much for your generous spirit.

Bible Study on the Book of Romans
At Mt. Pisgah we constantly aim to help people connect to the truth of the scriptures. Recent studies in the past few years show a decline in the biblical literacy in the United States. Researchers George Gallup and Jim Castelli put the problem squarely: “Americans revere the Bible–but, by and large, they don’t read it. And because they don’t read it, they have become a nation of biblical illiterates.”

How can the church help?

-We need to find a way to help folks understand the Bible in a way that does more than just teach about the scriptures.

-We need to help people place themselves within the narratives, to find personal meaning for their life in the Scriptures.

-We need to help people grow in their faith by living out a life of discipleship.

If you are interested in that type of study, plan on joining us for a Bible Study on the Book of Romans. This 8 week study will cover one of the most dynamic books in the New Testament. There will be an orientation on Wednesday, September 7, in Room 107/109 at 11:00am and 6:30pm.

You can register by clicking here or contacting the church office at 794-5856. If you have any questions, please contact Pastor Bob (pastor@mtpisgahva.org) or Pastor Anita (associate@mtpisgahva.org).

Worship This Weekend:
Jesus Feeds 5,000
Matthew 14:13-21
This Sunday we conclude our summer series "The Top Ten Miracles of the Bible" with Jesus Feeds 5,000.

How can so little feed so many? Resources are limited, but Jesus has a way of multiplying when we share.

See you in church!

Pastor Bob
