THE NEWS THAT'S FIT TO PRINT
(That's a saying right?  If not...well, it is now!)

Yesterday marked 100 years of one of America's best ideas....National Parks.  Wild and natural spaces directly impact both the health of the environment, but also the health of the nation.  To many of us, nature is a balm, a healing space to escape the stress of everyday life.  Preserving those spaces, and keeping them accessible to everyone improves the quality of life for the entire nation.

Through August 28th, national park entrance fees are waived so if you have the opportunity to go enjoy some of Nature's Beauty, do it!

So far, of the National Parks I've visited, Death Valley (where this was taken) is one of my favorites.  That is followed closely by Joshua Tree and Acadia.

What's your favorite?

September will be a nice little milestone for David and I.  It'll mark our six-month-iversary as lead instructors over at the Light & Landscape Members Area.  The program involves individualized monthly curriculum (we ask what you want to learn, then we build a lesson or two around it), in the field videos to help understand settings and composition decisions, processing videos and help via constructive feedback.  So far, its been a great ride and more importantly, our students seem to be loving it!

As part of our six-month-milestone, Matt (the founder of both magazine and teaching program, as well as in-the-field-video-maker-extraordinaire) released a few of the videos to the public.  I'm going to share this comprehensive video of David editing a "long exposure" shot that Matt took as part of his in-the-field tutorial.  David does a very nice job of explaining the basic sliders in Lightroom and how they affect an image, to give our students (and you!) a better understanding of where to start with your images.

This is just a little celebratory taste of what we do over at Light & Landscape Members' Area, where you can find many more tutorials and training videos of this elk.  If you want more info about the program or the magazine, go here.

If you just want to see the darn video already, go here! :-)
Are we Social Media friends?  We should be!  Click the links below to find me.  I don't always remember to do my newsletters (because life is hectic) but at the very least I'm pretty good about updating Instagram.  One out of twenty social medias ain't bad, right?! haha
PHOTO TIP!

Being a landscape photographer also means being a conditions-watcher.  Every "best case" scenario for sunset/sunrise, milky way, storm chasing, lightning shots and northern lights (to name a few) is different.  Sunrise/sets are improved by the right height clouds to reflect light.  Night time or northern lights need a clear sky.  Not all storms are created equally.  Be prepared to research your topic!
