Tastings for September!

Our first tasting for the month of September is on First Friday Sept. 2nd and we will feature the wines of Owen Roe from 6p-9p. Their goal is to produce excellent wines from grapes grown and cultivated in the best vineyards in the Pacific Northwest & no herbicides or pesticides are used in our vineyards

A great friend and tremendous supporter of Murphys, Lisa Bell, will be here on September 17th to pour wine from 1pm until 4pm. Lisa has one of the most diverse portfolios out there, so you never know what she'll bring!

ON September 21st we have a special tasting for you with AJ McCafferty from Le P'tit Payson & La Marea Wines He'll be here to pour wines and answer your questions from 5p-7p. So far we have Their 2015 Chardonnay Jack's Hill & 2012 Le P'Tit Pape red blend with more to come!

We'll round out the month with Charlie Burrows from Trinchero Family Estates and Republic National Distributors. He will be here on Saturday the 24th from 1p-4p

On Thursday September 8th, I'll be at the Handley Library for a benefit performance by Robbie Limon. Murphys is providing the wine and tickets are $25.00. Reservations are required. Call 540-662-9041. The library is always a worthy cause.
One of the most important events to come to Old Town is The Skyline Indie Film Festival. Murphys is always proud to support it and it's coming up once again. I can not encourage you enough to take advantage of it. The purpose of the festival is to "...entertain our growing audience, to educate and facilitate filmmakers in the business and perhaps most importantly to foster and nurture young filmmakers here in our own community." See over 50 foreign, domestic and independent films in four locations downtown. Community, THAT'S what it's all about. Here's where to get the schedule, tickets and details on The Skyline Indie Film Festival!
Another Film Festival we took part in that's worthy of a shout out is Psychorama. It is already over, BUT you can still check out it's on going, weekly events through Psycho Cinema. Unofficial slogan? "Blood, Boobs and Bad Decisions". Warning: It's not for the faint of heart!
Wine Tip of the Month:
Most wines are best drunk young, within the first 2-3 years. Wines stored in poor conditions will mature quicker which causes oxidation which spoils wine. Storing it in cool conditions away from heat and sunlight will keep them well till it is time to drink, in other words, keep it out of the kitchen!

Wine Quote of the Month:

“If this was the best wine that Jim and Nora could afford or, worse, if this was their idea of a good wine - well, sadly, then they were better off dead.”
Dean Koontz, Breathless
