ADA Audio Conference
Rights of Air Travelers with Disabilities and the Air Carriers Access Act

Tuesday, September 27 11:00 am - 12:30 pm

The Air Carrier Access Act of 1986 (ACAA) prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability in air travel and requires air carriers to accommodate the needs of passengers with disabilities. Join us as representatives of the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) discuss the requirements of the ACAA as it applies to air carriers web sites and kiosks, service animals, animal relief areas, mobility device stowage, and more. Following the presentation participants will have an opportunity to ask the presenters questions about the ACAA requirements.

Valley Metro Transportation Presentation
(FREE Ride on Bus/Light Rail) 

Have you wanted to use the Valley Metro transit system but didn’t know where to start? 
Do you have concerns (where do I board, will my mobility aid fit, will I get lost, can I really ride it…???)  

Yes, you can! Valley Metro representatives will teach you how. 

Topics included:
  • Overview of the system 
  • How to plan your bus/rail trip
  • Fare policy
  • Dial-A-Ride
  • Changes in ADA certification
  • The new mobility center  

Learn about options such as cab programs and mileage reimbursement available in some cities.  Bring your questions!  Valley Metro will provide all participants with an All Day Pass for the ride on the bus and light rail.

Did you know that Ability360 offers Medicare Counseling the 3rd Wednesday of every month?

The benefits counselors will assist Ability360 participants and the general public with all Medicare and Medicaid related needs and questions including enrollment assistance, problem solving, and general information.  All counseling is independent, unbiased, and offered without charge.  The services are part of the State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) funded by Medicare to assist beneficiaries. 

The Benefits Assistance Program is one of many services available from the Area Agency on Aging, Region One to support seniors (60 years and older) and individuals with disabilities. To learn more about all programs and services call the Area Agency’s 24-Hour Senior HELP LINE at 602-264-4357(HELP).  Visit them online at www.aaaphx.org
