WOW!
We are rolling back fines to 1904
We are celebrating Library Card Month throughout September.  Enjoy a month of fines rolled back to our 1904 prices! With fees at a meager 2¢ (two pennies!) for books and magazines, this is a great way to clear your cards of fines!  We will offer free library card replacements, and any library card sign-up during September will be entered in a drawing for a prize from the La Grange Theatre.

A Fistful of Rain
By Greg Rucka
Alcoholic Mim, ousted from her rock band, has come home to Portland, OR with plenty of reasons for being a mess—she and her brother grew up in foster homes after their father was imprisoned for killing their mother. Mim’s attempts to dry out run into trouble, including a brief kidnapping; later, explicit pictures of her spring up on the Internet. Blackmail, betrayal and murder follow in this edgy thriller as Mim forces herself to relive her painful past while trying to make sense of her present.

Black Spring
By Alison Croggon
A fantastical retelling of Wuthering Heights. Lina and Damek are inseparable childhood friends. She is a witch saved from death only because her father is a village Lord and he is a wayward orphan who grows into a malevolent force.  It’s an atmospheric read that entwines forbidden love, wizardry and revenge.

The Billiant Fall of Gianna Z
By Kate Messner
Gianna is a solid 12 year old who has a problem with procrastination. Her ever looming science project seems to represent her struggles in life. With the deadline for her project less than a week away, Gianna risks losing her spot in her school’s cross-country sectionals if she doesn’t finish it in time. Kids will find plenty in Gianna to relate to, especially the struggle to balance school work and family life. The laugh out loud moments made the book highly enjoyable and a pleasure to recommend.
