Congratulations to the 2016 Paramedic Class
In an unprecedented success, the Alabama Fire College Program in Emergency Medicine has achieved their THIRD consecutive 100% first-time pass rate on the National Registry of EMTs examination. This unheard-of accomplishment is the result of outstanding efforts by our students, faculty, support staff, and the agencies that entrust us to train their employees. Out-of-state students are not eligible to attend field delivery courses.
FIREFIGHTER CANCER WEBINAR SEPTEMBER 7, 2016

Cancer is the leading cause of firefighter line-of-duty deaths in the United States; according to the IAFF, about 60 percent of career firefighters will die from cancer. Firefighting has been linked to an increased risk of multiple myeloma, Hodgkin lymphoma, and prostate, testicular, brain, colon, skin and lung cancers.

We can’t eliminate the risks of exposure, but there are steps individuals and departments can take. Join Lexipol and an all-star cast of presenters for an up-front discussion of what’s driving rates of cancer among firefighters and how we can make behavioral and policy changes to improve our chances of survival.

National Fallen Firefighters Foundation
16 Life Safety Initiatives

From www.everyonegoeshome.com: "The 16 Firefighter Life Safety Initiatives (FLSI) were jointly developed by representatives of the major fire service constituencies in 2004 at a Firefighter Safety Summit in Tampa, FL. At that time, the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation was tasked with promulgating the Initiatives throughout the fire service, and developing material to support their implementation. Since then, the Initiatives have deeply informed the emerging safety culture in the US fire service, and become the bedrock foundation for thousands of fire departments and EMS organizations who have a desire to ensure that their firefighters and medics return home safely after every shift."
