Ice Cream Sunday ~ September 11th at 10:30

We have had so many blessings in our community throughout this year. Our greater community of Carp is also truly blessed. We will start off our fall season by giving thanks and celebrating.

Kathy Craig and Family will be hosting a special Ice Cream Sunday and they hope that the whole community will join in.

At St. James Anglican on Sunday September 11th there will be a Thanksgiving for the Community service at 10:30. The community will be invited to add names and items to the list of thanksgivings; this list can include anything that we wish to give thanks for in Carp!

The service will be followed by Ice Cream for everyone outside at 11am. (Rain location: Parish Hall)

Please join in the fun!

CLAY 2016 - We have returned!

We had a jam packed five days in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. There were many many blessings and also some challenges (like getting 900 people to one beach!).

Our team participated in a servant event at a local Seniors Home where they offered their helping hands to the community by assisting with gardening and creating a new flower bed area that will allow the residents to have a beautiful view out of their gazebo. Other teams at the residence built raspberry trellises and community garden boxes.
The residence is also home to several nuns who originally owned the property and our youth enjoyed meeting the Sisters (the first time for many of them to see a nun in full habit).

We had a fun-filled time that allowed our youth to grow in their relationship with God and learn some great (and challenging) life lessons.

We were very thankful for all of the support of our parish. Particularly for the extra donations that allowed us to fill the rooms with snacks, run to the dollar store for much needed gardening gloves (that we left with the seniors for their community garden) and then to go out for a group lunch at East Side Marios!

Much Thanks!

This dinner is open to leaders who are considering volunteering in any way during the 2016/2017 children's ministry year.

What are we Reading each Sunday?

What will we be reading each Sunday?
Our parish follows the Revised Common Lectionary (a three year cycle of readings from the bible). If you would like to know what we will be reading the upcoming Sunday you can find it on our website under resources. The link is found HERE. There are sometimes exceptions to the reading list (i.e. on Sunday, January 3rd, 2016 we are using the Epiphany Readings that are listed on the actual day of Epiphany, January 6th but in general I stay pretty committed to following the RCL)

Grounded - A Women's Retreat

I am pleased to provide information on a women's retreat that I have been asked to lead that is open to all

Grounded: A Women’s Retreat
Friday Evening & Saturday, October 14th & 15th

Led by The Reverend Monique Stone, the theme of the retreat will focus on our relationship with the soil and creation. We will ground ourselves in theology (discussion), worship (eucharist), prayer (Anglican rosary making), movement (yoga), reflection (Bible study), quiet (walks) and conversation (social time). The cost, including all snacks and meals, is $150 (single room) or $130 (shared room).

The final deadline for registration is October 5th. Contact Vicki Milnes for more information (vickimilnes705@rogers.com or 613-741-4624).

Final Thoughts

Here are a couple of things to ponder:

A wonderful VIDEO by TV Star and Scientist Mayim Bialik on how you can love science and God

And this article: Should Children Sit through BIG Church

And another: What Gord Downie just taught us about Death

Blessings,
Monique
