Estimada familia SEK.
El curso ya ha pasado su ecuador y las pruebas de la unidad cinco han finalizado, las actividades continúan y estos días el colegio ha tenido un movimiento grandioso, tanto en el plano físico como en el educativo, debido a la celebración de la “Semana Multicultural”. Familias, alumnos y docentes han posibilitado que los frutos del trabajo realizado hayan sido de la máxima calidad y que, los más jóvenes, continúen en ese proceso que les permite ver que el trabajo y el esfuerzo, personal y grupal, son la única opción posible en nuestro camino a la excelencia.
Las competiciones deportivas también continúan y tanto padres como alumnos, compitieron durante los últimos días en los colegios: Aula Viva, San José e Internacional. Este fin de semana los más pequeños finalizarán su participación en las rondas finales que se desarrollarán en el complejo deportivo “León Condou”, suerte a todos los participantes.
Gracias por todo y espero que la semana sea gratificante.

Festejo por el Día del niño.
El pasado 16 de agosto el Colegio se vistió de fiesta para celebrar el Día del Niño. Fueron preparadas muchas sorpresas para que los más pequeños disfrutasen de un evento inolvidable. Presenciaron una función de teatro: Princesas y Villanos, jugaron en entretenidas atracciones, compartieron juegos al aire libre en compañía de los miembros del Club de Alumnos, quienes también les pintaron símbolos de sus personajes favoritos, y por si fuera poco, los Superhéroes se sumaron a la fiesta.
Los niños se marcharon muy felices por haber compartido una celebración muy especial en compañía de sus profesores y compañeros.

Multicultural Week Opening Ceremony
Students from 1st through to 12th grade took part in the opening ceremony for this year's Multicultural Week.
Many types of games, foods and other cultural elements were presented by the different grades, including 2 pieces of theatre by the older students. These were an interpretation of the popular culture show Friends and a tragic version of Chaucer's The Prioress's Tale.
The students will now have 2 days of activities packed with cultural experience from around the world.

Science fair preparation
Students are preparing themselves for the Science Fair with projects that relate to some of the units studied through this year. Science fair projects are by nature independent studies, and should provide opportunities for the students to challenge but not overwhelm themselves. Visit the science lab, gathering the materials and testing them according to the experiment makes the class dynamic exciting and participative.
Students are expected to show increasing sophistication and application as grade level increases. Their experiments would need to demonstrate the application of knowledge, technical skills, and experience to the experiment, with strict control of variables and extended analysis of results.

Los alumnos de la secundaria comenzaron una práctica grupal, en donde compartieron conocimientos adquiridos con sus respectivos instrumentos, intercambiando así acordes, melodías, ritmos y diferentes estilos. Comenzar una banda o grupo musical requiere de mucho trabajo, práctica, perseverancia, predisposición, talento, entre otras cosas; es una herramienta de socialización, comunicándose así por medio del lenguaje universal de la música.

Market Day Products!
Eco Club has been busy creating products for Market Day next Friday, using reusable materials. They have had fun covering jars for bath salts and painting glass bottles. They have been learning about how materials are recycled and how to use objects for many purposes.

From the Year 1 Classroom
In Year 1 we are trying to encourage reading for enjoyment and so I gave the class a week and a half to choose a book from home or school to practice and prepare to read to the early childhood classes.
On Friday last week we had a pyjamas day and went to the Early Childhood class to read them some bedtime stories, which fitted in with the theme they are currently doing which is day/night and light/dark.
Much fun was had by all, some of the more confident readers had a chance to read to everyone. After that the EC children paired off with Year 1 children to listen to stories being read to them by various Year 1 children.
