Wenatchee Valley Symphony Orchestra Announces 2016-17 Crescendo Campaign and 70th Anniversary Season Ticket Sales

Requests Community to Become Member Supporters

In celebration of their 70th Anniversary, the Wenatchee Valley Symphony Orchestra has kicked off their 2016-17 Crescendo Campaign in support of the organization’s commitment to positively impact people’s lives through concerts, music making and community performances. The association plans to more deeply integrate the orchestra into the fabric of the region by taking Music Ambassadors into the community to perform, teach, and encourage music making. In order to support this development, the Symphony must increase annual revenue.

The Symphony’s annual expenses are met by three basic categories of revenue, each currently covering about one-third of the annual budget: concert ticket sales, grants and gifts, and contributions from symphony supporters. Community members are invited to make an investment in the Symphony’s future and become Member Supporters by contributing to the Crescendo Campaign

People may donate and become a member supporter online at www.wenatcheesymphony.org, where they may use the PayPal Donate button (a PayPal account is not needed). If preferred, they may contribute by telephone at 667-2640 with credit or debit cards, or mail checks to P.O. Box 3423, Wenatchee, WA, 98807.

The 70th Anniversary Season is entitled Celebrating Life Through Music. On the October 1, Concert I program are Korngold’s light-hearted Theme and Variations, Felix Mendelssohn’s symbolic Symphony No. 5 and Dvořák’s lyrical Cello Concerto in B minor featuring principal cellist Matthew Ryan-Kelzenberg. On November 5, Concert II will include Brahms’ Academic Festival Overture, Gounod’s Faust: Ballet Music, Othello native Stephen Beus performing Rachmaninoff’s 2nd Piano Concerto, and 2016 Young Musician Competition winner Téa Renee Ning LaFleur singing Stizzoso, mio stizzoso from Pergolesi’s opera La serva padrona.

The orchestra will once again join with Fabulous Feet Academy of Ballet to present Tchaikovsky’s beloved classic, The Nutcracker, December 9-11. The production will offer something for everyone, with live music from our local orchestra, sets, amazing costumes, local dancers of all ages, lighting effects, and aerial performers. On February 25, Concert III will feature Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite, Stravinsky’s 1919 Firebird Suite, and Wenatchee native, harpist Ellen Heinicke Foster, performing Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez

On April 22, the Symphony will celebrate their 70th Anniversary with Disney in Concert Magical Music from the Movies, a full-length concert of Disney music, presented at Town Toyota Center. The production will explore many of Walt Disney’s stories and characters through memorable melodies along with four Broadway caliber vocalists, high-resolution film clips and a narrative presented by the singers and conductor.

Season tickets are now on sale. To make a purchase, visit the Numerica Performing Arts Center (PAC) box office, 123 North Wenatchee Avenue, or call 663-ARTS, Monday-Friday from 11:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Individual concert tickets will go on sale September 6.

In its seventieth season, the Wenatchee Valley Symphony Orchestra is composed of local musicians whose purpose is to culturally enrich the communities of North Central Washington through music performance, outreach and education.
