Hi <<First Name>>,
By now you’ve probably heard that Zela is soon to be no more. I’m quite devastated about this, not for me so much but more because I thought SBS was exactly the place for this to happen. A public broadcaster with a commitment to representing the diversity of Australia? Perfect! But it wasn’t to be.
So, what next?
The short answer is, I don’t know. I’ve been fighting to promote women in sport for over 10 years now. I feel like we’re right on the cusp of something awesome, especially with the new leagues and broadcast deals lined up for the 2016/17 seasons. I’m also buggered.
I really just want to go and sit in a hammock on a beach in Thailand. Actually, if I could do the work I love from that hammock, that would be perfect. Someone make that happen, hey?
In the meantime, I’ve decided to start sending out these weekly emails promoting women in sport as well as some of the awesome women and men writing about them.
Thanks to all of you who have supported me over the years. In fact, that’s the best thing about this community, the support. Let’s keep at it! The only way is up, baby.
Yours in sport,
Danielle Warby

Cheerleader of the week
Or is it troublemaker of the week? Either way, Erin Riley is the BOSS. Saying the things I can’t and beating the drum for women in sport.
But shouldn’t it be just sport?
It should be, but it isn’t. Here's an opinion from Kate Symons on why we DON'T need dedicated women's sport websites or channels.
I totally get this argument. But until existing channels are held accountable for their lack of coverage, dedicated sites definitely have a place.
I caught a viral
It was over a week ago but still. Some consider lesbians in women’s sport to be a bit of an elephant in the room. I say some of those people have issues. We’re here, we’re queer. Deal with it. I probably need to write something a bit more considered and serious about this...
