Bregman's 433-foot bomb

 Games played August 18, 2016

Houston 3B Alex Bregman went 1-for-4 with his second home run, a 433-foot bomb to left center that was the second-longest in the Majors yesterday. He also robbed Baltimore's Manny Machado of a hit with a diving stop and throw. The 22-year-old rookie has hit safely in 11 of his last 12 games. Unfortunately, the Astros lost 13-5 to the O's, have lost five in a row, and are 7-16 since going 10 games over .500 on July 24. "The only thing I'm worried about is trying to win this game, and we didn't do that tonight," Bregman told MLB.com afterward.

Detroit 2B Ian Kinsler went 1-for-4 in a 4-3 win over Boston. His catch of a Mookie Betts line drive with two outs in the bottom of the 9th and runners on second and third secured the win. At 64-57, the second-place Tigers are six games behind Cleveland in the A.L. Central and 3.5 games behind the second A.L. wild-card spot.

Dodgers CF Joc Pederson went 0-for-4 in a 5-4 loss to Philadelphia. At 67-53, L.A. leads the A.L. West by half a game.

In his first game back since spraining his left knee and ankle, Milwaukee LF Ryan Braun went 0-for-5 in a 9-6 loss to the Cubs.

Scott Feldman's Blue Jays and Danny Valencia's Athletics were idle Thursday.

Toronto CF Kevin Pillar has been on the disabled list since August 6 with a sprained left thumb.
