Warwick Regatta cancelled due to high wind forecast

Dear <<Salutation>>

Regrettably, the Warwick Regatta Race Committee has had to take the decision to cancel this year's event due to an adverse weather forecast and amber warning from the Met Office.  Rest assured that the decision wasn't taken lightly, but had to be made in good time in the best interests of the safety of all our competitors, bearing in mind that some of them are very inexperienced and very young.

In spite of the cancellation, and weather conditions permitting, we are hoping to run the Patrick McClosker Challenge Cup event as usual, where coxed fours of Tennis players and Squash players race each other in what is often the one of the most keenly fought races of the Regatta. The race will take place over the stretch of water running past the Club some time between 4pm and 5pm tomorrow, with Squash trying to wrest back the crown lost to Tennis last year.  Do please come and support them - they've all trained hard to undertake this challenge (on their way to Tokyo in 2020).

The bar will be open from 2pm with a 'Happy Hour' from 4pm.

Hope to see you there...

Yours sincerely

Jon Martin
