New Membership Portal Coming Soon!

Please review this important announcement!

Dear CGNA Members,

I am writing about some important changes coming to the Canadian Gerontological Nursing Association.

As of September 9, 2016, our membership system and online store will move to a new platform. We are making this switch to streamline the membership experience and to continue to improve the efficiency of our operations.

Please note that you will not have access to the CGNA membership system or members-only content from September 1 through September 8, 2016, while we switch the platforms.

If you require access to CGNA material during this period, kindly contact us.

What do these changes mean for you?

As members, you will continue to process your membership transactions and access members-only content through a single membership portal.

There are some important changes for you to note, as follows:

New Password to Access Members-Only Content

As of September 9, 2016, you can visit the new membership portal to access members-only content and view/edit your membership record. To sign in, you will continue to use your email address as your username. However, you will have been assigned a new password.

When the new system is available, you will receive another email with instructions on how to reset your password and access your membership profile and members-only content.

Discontinuing Membership Auto-renewals

Over the past few years we have provided membership auto-renewals. Based on concerns voiced by our members and following an internal review, we have decided to discontinue this practice.

Now, in advance of your annual membership renewal date of March 31 (for all CGNA members, except those in Ontario and British Columbia), you will receive automated notifications to log into your account and renew your CGNA membership.

For members in Ontario and British Columbia, your current practice of renewing your CGNA membership through your provincial association will continue and will not be affected by this change.

PayPal Integration

Credit card transactions on our new platforms will now be processed by PayPal. You will still be able to pay your membership dues by cheque if you so desire.

Why PayPal?

PayPal is a leading online sales merchant that you may already be familiar with if you have a PayPal account. It is a highly secure and safe credit card processing platform.

Also, CGNA must pay transaction fees on every credit card transaction we process. PayPal offers to Canadian charitable organizations, like CGNA, a discounted transaction fee, helping to keep our operational costs down.

CGNA will not have access to, nor retain any information, related to your credit card.

Will I need a PayPal account?

No, you will not be required to have or use a PayPal account to pay your annual membership dues. You will not be required to sign up for a PayPal account.

If you do already have a PayPal account, you will be able to pay your dues through that account.

What should I do next?

You will receive another email when the new membership platform is online with instructions on setting your new password.  As of September 9, 2016, visit the new membership portal and set a new password for your account.

If you encounter any difficulties, have any questions or want to share any concerns about the new platform, please send us your feedback.

And finally, don’t forget to submit your abstracts for CGNA2017 — abstracts are due September 16, 2016!  See the full call for abstracts in the newsflash item below.

Thank you again for your continued membership in the CGNA.  We look forward to serving you.

Yours sincerely,

Veronique Boscart, RN, PhD

Call for Abstracts! CGNA2017

Gerontological Nursing: Shaping Healthcare for those who Shaped Canada

The Canadian Gerontological Nursing Association and the Gerontological Nursing Association of Ontario are excited to announce the Call for Abstracts for CGNA2017, the 19th Biennial Conference of the CGNA, taking place
May 4-6, 2017 in Canada's capital city, Ottawa, Ontario!

The CGNA biennial conference is the only event of its kind that focuses on all facets of education, practice and research in the care of older adults.

With an increasing aging population, it is critical that gerontological nurses remain engaged with the latest developments in research and practice in the field.

The CGNA conference is a key educational and networking event for nurses, students, educators, policy makers, administrators and all others in the field of gerontological nursing.

Visit the CGNA2017 website to submit your abstracts and learn more about the conference, including the conference program, speakers, venue, and hotel and travel discounts.

Sponsor or exhibit at CGNA2017! There are exciting opportunities to showcase your organization or company to leaders in gerontological nursing. For more information, please read our Sponsorship & Exhibiting Prospectus

Abstracts are due September 16, 2016!
